Opening a Social Media account for personal or business use is quite easy, more or less like ABC. You’ll probably only need to have a valid email address and with few clicks here and there, your account should be active within few minutes.

As a startup, starting and maintaining a social media presence will not only provide an avenue to connect with your customers but will also help you listen into what others are saying about your business.

That’s why in this post we have compiled six social media do’s every smart startup should follow in other to get the best out of their social media activities.



1. Complete your social profiles

This is most often neglected but its important because this will allows your audiences to know more about what your business offers including services and products and even who you are as a company. When you leave some aspect of your profile blank for example your ‘About Us’ section, you immediately decrease your chances of converting a visitor into a customer.

2. Post relevant content

To get a good grip of this always use the 80/20 rule. Make sure you post relevant and useful information for your target audience 80% of the time while the remaining 20% should include information about your product and services.

3. Cross check and Proof read

No one wants to read a post filled with errors and grammatical blunders. Always make sure the content you are sharing is reader-friendly, by cross checking and proof reading. Simplicity is the key make your post easy to read through; remember to include paragraphs, indents, numbers lists etc to make your post look good on mobile or PC.

4. Include any reference

Saves you from getting into trouble. If you are lifting content from different sources always remember to reference your source, makes you look credible.

5. Add some visuals

Statistics show that most readers online are visual-readers. Hence, remember to make your images and post visually enticing in order to lure your target audience to check them.

6. Interact with your readers/followers

Social media can be a great customer service tool useful in answering customer questions or concerns on your business. Use social media to get priceless feedback on your products and services.
