Governor Willie Obiano says the underlying intent behind his administration's socio-economic activities across the four key pillars is to create job and wealth opportunities for youths in the state. Governor Obiano was speaking when he received Course 26 participants of the Nigeria Defence College, Abuja at the Governor's Lodge Amawbia. The course 26 participants who comprise personnel of the Nigerian Military including the Nigerian Army, the Navy and the Airforce, are on a one-week study tour of the state as part of the requirements for their programme. The course with the theme "Youths empowerment and National security : issues and prospects " will see the participants tour various youths empowerment centers in the state. Addressing his guests, Governor Obiano who noted that his administration places high premium on the welfare of youths, said this explained why he has given youths fair opportunity in his administration as well as attracted investors that will create job opportunities for them. He said the success story of his administration in the security area was because of its efforts at battling drug abuse among youths and the cordial rapport between the security agencies, adding that with what he has achieved in the sector, the State is now safe for business activities. The Governor urged members of the Course to utilize the study opportunity to identify and advise government on what it can do differently to touch the lives of the youths better. Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu revealed that the Course 26 marks the fourth study group that are visiting the state this year, noting that it goes to show how the state is revered. The leader of the delegation and Director of Coordination in the College, Brigadier-General Martin Enendu said the college which is the apex military training Institute in the country, through the courses, bring all elements of national power to an interface with a view to create a better understanding of what needs to be done to sustain the unity and development of the country. He explained that the Course's theme centers on youths because of their involvement in the social problems facing the country and commended Governor Obiano for his vision at securing a better future for the youths through agriculture and other programmes. In a vote of thanks, a military personnel from Ghana, Colonel Samuel Asari expressed appreciation to Governor Obiano for his hospitality and support towards ensuring the success of their programme.
