Buhari, since assuming office, has vehemently fought unnecessary importation of goods. Why import what we can produce? Is the question. When we are expanding billions on fx.
By abruptly blocking the channels of this importation, Nigerians are now faced with the onus of sourcing for alternatives, as man must survive. Of course critics stake different claims, citing his guts. Well, the best alternative is to locally produce. Immediately, those with the potential to produce were kicked into life.
The likes of Lake rice, Akwa Ibom tooth pick, etc, emmerged. Other dormant ones like Abakiliki rice, etc, were also reawakened. All these are for those with the requirements though.
Now, how does it affect the commons? Good question. A vast majority of Nigerians interested in starting a business complain of one barrier: CAPITAL! Great business idea, but where is the capital to fund it - at least on a small scale? Now, if you are current, you would notice that the activities of lenders/borrowers in the country is drastically increasing. This is because the presidency set a precedence, gave them confidence, and there is now trust. Simply put, the lenders now see an economic direction spear-headed by this administration. A new trend of business that they want to be part of, to remain relevant. The SMEDAN clinic recently organised by FG, and other steps made sure of that.
Now in Nigeria, you can easily access a loan facilities without collateral, and with a low interest rate, to start a business, provided you are employed. I recently got one and couldn't believe it! Even the likes of MTN are now coming into the mix, lending people money as business loan with low interest rates. The Government also, recently announced a price slash on the cost of registering a business.
So instead of joining the bandwagon to complain, look out for the opportunities the recent change brings with it. Different leaders with different policies, but like the money lenders, MTN, etc, we have to keep restrategising to succeed, or remain successful.

My view though.
