I and someone just argued about this.

I think it’s an ingredient because some dishes need it and others don’t. My friend says since fire doesn’t go into the pot then it’s not.

I wanted to know what everyone else thinks.

The necessity is heat. Fire is just a means to an end, which is heat.

Ingredients are foods or substances combined in making a particular dish..how will fire be mixed with other foodstuffs
