FUPRE SUG President Appreciates President Muhammadu Buhari by LOC1(m): 9:43pm On Oct 18, 2017
FROM: STUDENT UNION GOVERNMENT FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF PETROLEUM RESOURCES EFFURUN (FUPRE).

A LETTER TO THE GRAND COMMANDER IN THE ORDER OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA - PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI,
ASO ROCK PRESIDENTIAL VILLA, ASOKORO, ABUJA.

Date Published: 18th October, 2017.

It's with great pleasure and humility that the good people of Delta State, Effurun, ugbomro, ever intellectual fuprites and workaholic management staff of Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun wish to present unadulterated and unalloyed greetings to the Great Commander in the order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria - president Muhammadu Buhari.

Ever since the Federal Government established the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE, Effurun, Delta State, March 14, 2007, the first in Africa and sixth in the world, the inventiveness was to build a specialized university to transform the Niger Delta region through that development and deployment of technology, with the appointment of Prof Babatunde Alabi and Dr. Mrs. Linda Owuka as first vice chancellor and first registrar respectively, a take- off grant of N1 billion to be provided by the Education Trust Fund (now Tertiary Education Trust Fund –TETFUND) and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) at N500 million apiece was proclaimed by the then President.
But thankGod that today we have a different story to tell under your leadership.
personally, I was thrilled and overwhelmed.

We write as concerned student leaders to heartily commend your foresight towards the technological impact and economic growth associated to
assenting a petroleum bill to establish Federal University of Petroleum Resources validating its specialised framework. we are most grateful.
This will go a long way to quell and douse some tension and potential unrest within the region because its a welcome development. this step alone has given FUPRE the muscle to explore their natural and intrinsic values and talents which has been overtime impeded by acute shortage in resources, underfunding and lack of industry and government appraisals.

It's a right step in the right direction, and at the right time.
We aren't blind to your giant stride in the agricultural sector, it's very visionary of you, but we appeal that this laudable agricultural initiatives be spread across the Six Geo political zones.
We appreciate your commitment towards the Niger Delta region we also plea you seek the people's plight and exterminate it silently without hesitation, assess the root of agitations and uproot the inanimate.
As Deltans (both schooling and living, we are one), We embrace your commitment towards the oil rich state, and we pledge to be law abiding citizen so long as the custodians of power remain subject to the national and international law and Democratic in their mannerism.

We unanimously commend the 109 senators of the Green chamber who collectively OK the establishment bill, we lack words to characterize your intelligent consensus.

We would miss the hook in the line if we don't recognise the frontier of this bill, the initiator of this actualised feat- Sen Ovie Omo Agege, senator representing Delta Central in Senate House of Assembly.
Your school of thought about politics is more than enough to earn you a statue more significant and colourful than that of Jacob Zuma recent statue in Imo State. This feat is the best thing any representative can do for his constituency owing to the technological impact, socioeconomic relevance of this bill as it regards the good people of Delta state and the Nation at large.

We appreciate the FUPRE management under the administration of Prof. Akii Ibhadode for setting up futuristic prospects and wonderful visions tied to the bill which also played a big role in convincing the Senate chamber to agree to the veritable claims and prospects.

Special appreciation to Ugbomro and Iteregbi for their landed support.

To all that participated in the actualisation of this bill, the FUPRE community is most grateful and we are ready to transform the petroleum sector of the nation and by extension positively affect other sectors of the nation through building a university of global claim attracting more professionals and expertise while human capacity development is being intensified and diversity in learning inculcated.

On behalf of the ever conscious, innovative and creative battalion of fuprites, we say in bold letters THANK YOU.
