More facts have emerged on how members of staff of Air Peace airline allegedly stole money in the airline’s office at the Akure Domestic Airport.

SUNSHINE HERALD had earlier reported yesterday that thieves broke into the airline’s office Sunday night and carted away a vault containing money said to be proceeds from tickets sold for flights on Friday and Sunday.

Early Thursday morning, men of the Aviation Security at the Akure Airport noticed some suspicious movements by one of the staff of the airline by name Moses Oseni.

Oseni was said to have made a contact with an Okada man who came to pick him at the terminal area of the airport, after which he proceeded towards the gate with a sack in his hands.

While at the gate, security men who had been tipped off, asked for the contents of the sack, which he failed to reply.

Upon search, it was discovered that the sack contained huge amount of money, which made them detain him and call the Oba-Ile division of the Nigeria Police who came to arrest him.

Upon arrest, Oseni confessed to the crime, he also confessed not being the only one involved in the crime.

His arrest led to the discovery of a location inside the bush in the airport premises where the vault containing the money was found.

As witnessed by SUNSHINE HERALD, it was jubilation galore at the airport, as members of staff thanked God for bringing to the public the culprits.

A member of staff who spoke with SUNSHINE HERALD on the condition of anonymity said the discovery of the money and vault was a victory for the members of staff of FAAN in the airport.

“We are happy the thieves have been caught,” he said.

“These Air Peace people have been accusing us (Airport staff) of being the ones who stole their money.

“Their management from Lagos had even asked that their members of staff arrested be released, stating that this was disturbing their operations.

“They were claiming innocence, but thank God that we are the ones who caught them and have been vindicated.”

The station manager of Air Peace at the Akure airport who resumed duty was accosted by the airport staff.

As soon as the airline manager got to the gate, he was made to lie on the ground by the gatemen who later accosted him to the airport premises.

Upon entry, it took the intervention of the Airport Manager, Mrs. Cecelia Oguama to save him from being molested by angry airport staff.
