After a tough contest involving eight candidates, a Professor of Botany, Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), and Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Academic and Research, today emerged as the 12th Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos.

Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, who was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Academic and Research, now succeeds Prof. Rahamon Ade Bello, the 11th VC who will leave the 11th Floor of the Senate Building on the 11th day of the 11th month of 2017, when his 5-year tenure will end.

NewsmakersNG exclusively learnt of Prof Ogundipe’s appointment after the Senate meeting lasting about 11 hours today.

Ogundipe, who was appointed as Professor in 2002, had served as the Director of Academic Planning and he is a member of many scientific organisations.
