There seem to be an error in the first quantity sample.no need for racking my precious brain.would like to know what quantitative reasoning textbook is that

Bro no error, if you can think back to primary 2-5 you would remember this is how the quantitative questions are presented.

You may be right.I can recall sketchically. But it still appears to me that something isn't right with question, especially the ist sample.I might find a way around it if i persevere but I do not have the luxury of time to do that anyway.

I also believe there is an error may be in placing the numbers.
From the second diagram it should be 3+4=7 or 7-3=4 or 7-4=3 since it's O-level syllabus. The first diagram also has to follow a simple pattern (simple arithmatic). The question can't involve such things as prime numbers or power raising.
Trust I solve more complex patterns in GMAT and Dragnet within impossible times.
But pls Let me know if someone is able to solve it.

42-(16)
For instance example 1-add the three numbers together ie8+17+32=57,den add 8+17=25
Deduct 57 from 25=32 likewise the second example

From the given examples:

1. 8+17 = 25, 32-17 = 15
25+15 = 40 Which is equivalent to adding the two triangles

2. 7+4=11, 3-4 = -1
11-1= 10 which is equivalent to adding the two triangles

Q1. 14+5=19, 7-5 = 2
19+2 = 21 which equals to 14+7 (Answer is A =14)

Q2. 10+16=26, 42-16=26
26+26 = 52 equals to 10+42=52 (Answer is B 16)

I almost thought you got it right. However, with the explanation you gave any number would be correct.

/8-17/ = 9
3^2 = 9

/7-4/ = 3
3^1 = 3

41.) B
/x-5/ = y
7^1 = 7 = y
Therefore, x = 7+5 = 12

42.) E
/10-x/ = y
4^2 = 16 = y
Therefore, x = 10+16 = 26

Alright guys, using the example 2, 4*7=28 4*3=12 28+12=40 7+3=10 40/10=4 Now the answers to the questions are C and A which is 9 and 160 respectively.
