Depressed parents and guardians of less privileged children across remote areas in Nigeria may soon begin rejoicing over succor which is about to start knocking their doors following Aliko Dangote Foundation promise of five years $100 million donation plans, aimed at tackling of malnutrition across worst-affected parts of the nation, just as he joined other world leaders to battle the global menace.

At a just recently concluded 2017 Global Nutrition Summit, held in Italy, where the governments of various countries, international agencies, foundations, civil society organisations and businesses were convened to accelerate the global response to malnutrition, the foundation disclosed its move toward eradication of malnutrition, stating that, lack of needed nutrients for in body of children have caused nearly half of all global child deaths.

However, It was reported that malnutrition affects every country in the world in various forms, while Africa is hard hit, with Nigeria having highest numbers of malnourished children.

It was indicated that almost half of the one million children who die before age of five every year in Nigeria, were as a result of malnutrition.

The Managing Director, Aliko Dangote Foundation, Zouera Youssoufou, disclosed that the foundation had concluded plans to donate the stated amount for the period planned to combat cases of children dying yearly as a result of lack of needed nutrients.
