Thirty nine players have emerged as the finalist for the PSG-Irukka football talent hunt screening, which was conducted today at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos.

The number was drawn from the 150 players that were selected from across the country. The pre-final screening was witnessed by coaches and scouts from different clubs in Europe as well as former super eagles players like Monday Odiaka, Franklin Howard, Peter Nieketen and many among others.

Speaking while addressing the participants, renowned British scout, Simon Paul said that a lot of teams in Europe are looking for talents from Nigeria. According to him, Nigerian footballers are reputed for their ruggedness, which is the major reason why they are in high demand in Europe. He said that the coaches and scouts have come to pick quality talents from Nigeria, adding that PSG- irukka football talent hunt would go a long way in providing exposure for Nigerian players.

His words," I want to start by saying that Nigerian players are in high demand in Europe. Nigerian players are noted for their rugged type of football. However, football has gone beyond what you do on the pitch. Your conduct outside the pitch is also very important. So, before you are selected, we check your conduct. How you relate with your teammates, how humble you are when your team is winning and how supportive you are when your team is losing. So, we want you to put in your best.

If you are chosen, you would be taken to Europe. But if you are not chosen today, this is going to be a continuous exercise, another time you can be chosen. So keep on working hard.
