I have worked in the two societies and I know the difference. As at 2008 robber strike on Falomo at least 3 times a week. This is Falomo in Ikoyi on of the highbrow areas in lagos Nigeria.
in 2 weeks while in Naija some colleague would be robbed between VI and 3rd mainland taking Falomo. which is a highbrow area.

I am not talking of APongbon which is a known robbers den. In 2007 did you hear of the young igbo lady who works for Erikkson that was killed at Apongbon by robbers?.

I have lived in At least 3 US cities and never seen highway robbery before.

Well thank God you said 2007/early 2008, but that has reduced drastically because when you come to lag now, you'd think UN peacekeepers are stationed here with the kind of police heavy duty van parked at various hotspots. (we still have series of minor robberies, but not anything major again).

I have never been robbed except once (in a supermarket by 2 stupid young boys operating with 1 piston), they almost got caught but they were lucky to have escaped, just got my e71 for $430 then (2008 August), and i was having 3k in my wallet, they only took the money and i didn't release the phone. other than that, never been robbed nor none of my family/relatives.

Now if u purchase something whole sale for 230 and sell it for 530 a pop minus shipping (15) then its easier on your hands, though ebay gets greedy, so you set up your own site once you get enough stable customers.

Ebay can never feed me, that yeye site, you have to stay 1 week to sell one item, if not, the % ebay'll get from you is going to more than what you'd make as profit on it except you wait for a least 1 week for the highest bidder. and you might only sell 1 item for 1 week or even 2 weeks.

Maybe other part of the country, but not Lagos or Abuja, i mean, not now, you can't robe a bank successful in Lagos as at now except it's an inside job. 2006 is 4 years ago bro, alot of water has passed under the bridge.

I lived in Chicago and in Houston been to several cities too. I have never been robbed though I have a friend whose car was "Joy-ridden" in West Chicago one of the most dangerous places in the US thats about it.

In the early 70s and 80s you could leave your house unlocked and still come back and meet your stuff there. How many times do you hear of armed robberies in the hinterlands? I've been to my father and mother's villages . . . there is no fence, no gate . . . nothing and yet we sleep with 2 eyes closed.

Armed robbery, kidnappings and ritual killings are squarely due to increased rate of poverty.

Though I agree the rise in poverty is a factor but the Aninis, Oyenusis, Osunbors became legends in the 80's
