As you seek algorithms, seek also Design Patterns by the 'Gang of Four'

why?

@i-guru The hallmark of a great programmer is the ability to look at a programming task and profer the right model in solving the task. While algorithms solve specific programming challenges like finding the shortest path between two locations, design patterns deals with the bigger picture in describing the locations, landmarks, routes, traffic, weather, topography; and how these objects behave and communicate with one another. For example if you are told to model the departmental hierarchy of students in your previous school, or the reporting hierarchy of employees in your company, how do you begin? In design patterns, a look at the problem, tells me both task have nodes and leaf i.e an employee may have subordinates (node), and may not have subordinates(leaf). With this I will implement my model using the 'Composite Design Pattern'
The advantage of patterns being code reuse, maintenable code, readable code, good program design and fail proof code. I hope this answers why?
