The Kabba Development Union led by Kabba Traditional Council visited the Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello recently to tender their profound apologies over the 'regrettable' actions of Sen. Dino Melaye on Kabba Day and to appreciate the wisdom of the Governor for dousing tensions on the said day even though the Governor said apologies and appreciation are not needed.

In response, Bello said he was happy to receive Royal Fathers and other leaders from Kabba. What happened, he says, belongs in the past. He added that the most important thing is how to move forward for the progress of the state.

PoliticsNGR obtained a letter of appreciation read out by President of Kabba Development Union during the meeting. It reads;

Dear Sir,

LETTER OF APPRECIATION

On behalf of the Kabba Development Union and indeed the good people of Kabba Community, we wish to express our deep appreciation to you for honouring our invitation to the Kabba Day 2017 event tagged #KabbaFestivalOfCulturalHeritage.

Your presence in Kabba on that day, in spite of various wrong signals hovering in the air, clearly demonstrated to us your love for us in Kabba and indeed and the entire Okun Nation. For this, we remain eternally grateful. We also thank you for your handsome donation of N20,000,000 (Twenty Million Naira) towards the completion of our Ultra Modern Kabba Civic Centre. This magnanimity is unprecedented!

Your Excellency, as an inherent part of the cultural ethos of the Kabba people, we do not condone any form of disrespect to our Elders and Leaders, more so to our Esteemed Governor. When we observed some unguided tantrums being publicised on Social Media, our Traditional Rulers sent a delegation of three Obas to dissuade some hitherto invited individuals from attending the event and this includes Sen. Dino Melaye.

For avoidance of doubt, again, on the day of this event, which is a non-political but cultural and fund-raising gathering, our two Ololus in the company of some community Leaders pleaded, particularly with politicians we suspected may have ulterior motives, that they must exhibit perfect decorum before and/or during the Celebration; the request to which we received requisite assurances of guaranteed civility.

This was exactly the message we communicated to Your Excellency when you granted us an audience in Kabba.

We, however, regret with profound apologies, the inconveniences and embarrassment that occurred on that day, whilst also appreciating your courage and maturity in handling the situation - that could potentially have escalated beyond control. However, lessons have been learnt and these will guide our planning in the course of organising such worthy events in the future.

Your Excellency, we indeed appreciate the way you managed the situation well to safeguard the security of lives, properties and wellbeing of the teeming crowd - your very own people, present at the gathering.

Once again we thank you immensely from the depth of our hearts.

We pray that your Governance of Kogi State will portend goodness, prosperity and peace for all.
