The only way to self-improvement and personal development is by doing. Everyone needs to become a doer. When you consumes; you remain passive in nature, and many times your consumption no matter how genuine, useful and valid the initial reason for starting out on them, will always end in time wastage.
We were created and are meant to be creators. One question we need to keep asking ourselves daily is; what is my creation to consumption ratio?

Excessive consumption inhibits creativity; it sucks life, time and energy of you; preventing you from doing the work rather you will feel like consuming “just one more”; it is like a child that can’t have enough and always want just one extra more. Many of us have become Oliver Twist; all desiring more to consuming and finding it difficult to stop consuming.

Excessive Consumption Distract our Attention
It distracts our attention from what matters most; it inhibits our abilities and potentials but rather fuels our negative tendencies, leading to excessive and unnecessary investment of our time in activities that are very unproductive. Excessive consumption shifts our attention from doing “Deep Work” according to Cal Newporte. It makes us focus incessantly on that which is “Novel”; trying to catch up with every new fade rather than settling down for that which is essential and needed to be done.

Write that book. Design that website. Compose that song. Doesn’t just be a dreamer; live the dream. Go out. Step out. Do the work. Stop rationalizing; there will never be a perfect time or place; now is the time. Challenge yourself; push beyond your limits. Stretch. Put your hands on the plow. Start something that you really care about. Move. Start. Kill fear. Show up. Make. Above all CREATE..
