Video of Nigeria Graduating students be celebrated beaten as thieves... Is this right?

It has become a Tradition in most Nigeria higher institutions/Universities that Graduating students are beaten like thieves and in most cases to unconsciousness.
Is this really an ideal practice?

It is barbaric!

To enter into higher institution, na problem

after admission, coping with the stress of lectures, tests, exams and lecturers' demand na another wahala

After all these, when one should be happy that one is finally overcoming the wahala and problem above, being beating should be the congratulatory gifts and farewell?

show us those beaten to unconsciousness. we have more important problems than how students choose to celebrate their graduation.
