*Topic:* RIGHTEOUSNESS (I)
*Read:* Genesis 18:20-33

*MEMORISE:* Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. *(Proverbs 14:34)*

*EXPOSITION:*
The level of corruption and perversion is so magnanimous in our society. Moral, spiritual and financial corruption is on the increase by the day. The devotional for today shows the episodic display between God almighty and Abraham, on the issue and effects of righteousness. The highlights of the discussion: 1. Righteousness is doing what is right at the right time for the right purpose. It speaks of right-standing, integrity, uprightness, sincerity, faithfulness, morality.

This is the more reason God would never slay the righteous with the wicked. It would be unrighteous on God's part, to do such a thing. Hence, the deliverance of the only three favoured souls. There is no unrighteousness in, and with God. What a man sows he shall reap. Sow, unrighteousness and reap calamity. 2. Righteousness is powerful. It has great neutralising effect, on evil and wickedness. Abraham made us to have deeper enlightenment and knowledge about how wonderful and powerful righteousness is. If two big cities that were doomed and deemed fit for destruction would be spared because of few righteous people, then righteousness is no light thing. It is clear that Lot was never pleased with the evil inherent in the sin-filled people. He conducted himself as light amongst them. Believers have no option, they have to pass through the world, but as a light that must continue to shine, come rain come sun. 3. Righteousness exalts: The Bible says, “Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” Proverbs 14:34. Fire eventually came upon Sodom due to their confirmed and pronounced corruption and atrocity. The calamities, terrorism and disasters witnessed here and there in nations of the earth could be end result of the evil and ungodly practices that is so rife today. Righteousness will exalt you.

*PRAYER POINTS:*
1. Lord, deliver me from every ungodly practises and exalt me with Your righteousness.
2. Help the believer to dare to be different in this world of wickedness.
3. Oh Lord, let every policy that constitutes anti- word of God never see the light of the day, in all the nations of the earth, in Jesus’ name.
