Shortly after unveiling the statue of the Liberian President, Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, was asked by a journalist while he is building statues and he replied

"To immortalize people so our children yet unborn can read a piece of them. History is dying in Africa. We must keep history alive. In the next 100 years to come, most of us will not be here but this will stand for children to read stories and mold their character. If leaders are not mortalized, there will not be history for children yet unborn'.

Ambode is also building sculptures.

The ones in Lagos are not socially and historically relevant.

It is good if you want your own children to mould their characters like that of Jacob Zuma that even South Africans are throwing insults at. But if you really want to build a legacy, how about giving out scholarships, free education and so on?

...and as they say, history never forgets. Those children that'd read the legacies of Okorocha's heroes like Zuma and Sirleaf would also read how the Statue-building Government used tax-payers money to build statues.

They will also read that he didn't pay salaries too. It is part of his history that the future generation should read so that Okorocha's children born then would know how foolish their great grand father was. History will never forgets grin grin grin.
