Brian Idowu Admits : When I Scored, I Did Not Believe Myself by mazimee(m): 1:47am On Nov 15, 2017 |
Super Eagles new star Brian Idowu has stressed that he was not quaking in his boots before he stepped out onto the Krasnodar Stadium turf in the 46th minute of the friendly between Argentina and Nigeria on Tuesday evening. Idowu scored the Super Eagles third goal in the 54th minute after he was teed up by Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, taking his tally for club and county to 5 goals from 110 games in the process. ''Before going on the field for a long time I was not so shaken up, to be honest. It was just for me the most important match - the debut game for the national team,'' Idowu told Rusfootball. ''My father watched the match in the stands, and many teammates watched on TV. At the beginning of the game I calmed down. When I scored, I did not believe myself: I scored just three goals for Amkar. And then I scored on my debut.'' On his chances of making Nigeria's World Cup roster, the versatile defender replied : ''There are always chances. The main thing is for me to work on myself and progress. ''As the coach said at the press conference, my performances for the club will be taken into account when deciding whether to call me or not.'' Idowu participated in only two training sessions with the Super Eagles before his first game for Nigeria. Igho Kingsley https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=25439 |
