This is a revolutionary idea. My only addition is that your enemy must be strong and intelligent for you to develop as a result of her enmity; Nigeria can never develop with Biafra as her enemy! We need ferocious enemies like Ghana and South Africa, at least within Africa

From your own examples, the enemies are outside not within, Messi and Ronaldo are not teammates, they belong to different clubs, so is America and Russia, they are two different countries.

I think you seriously meant competitor and not enemy. However, the bracketed are more current and correct.
Even if you meant enemy, the fallacy of your position is that unlike India -Pakistan for example, there is no boundary between Nigeria and Biafra. If you can't stand the word "Biafra", don't worry because a replacement will soon emerge and you may not even recognize it.
