GOV. EMMANUEL APPOINTS TWO MEMBERS INTO HIS CABINET

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has sworn into office Professor Victor Daniel Bassey Inoka and Sir Ibanga Ime Akpabio as Commissioners.
Performing the inauguration at Executive Council Chamber, Government House Uyo, Governor Emmanuel stated that inclusion of the new members was to enable the state tap from their wealth of experience and actualise the vision of the administration.
He said their appointment came at a critical time when the state and country were desirous of repositioning in view of the poor state of economy experienced in the country in the last two years.
Mr Emmanuel expressed optimism that the new members would bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities, emphasizing that the quality, pedigree, intellectual acumen, exposure and tenacity which they are made of would enable them deliver in the new capacity as State Executive council members.
Governor Emmanuel expressed appreciation to other members of the council for their contributions to the state development, explaining that the state Exco is operated in a flat structure where the members see themselves as a family and used the occasion to welcome the new hands to the family.
While urging the newly inaugurated members to make discipline their watchword, the state Chief Executive intimated them of the challenges in office and called on them to make necessary sacrifices to enable the administration realise it dreams, reminding them that they had no excuse other than to deliver on the mandate.
He commended the stakeholders including Senate Minority Leader Senator Godswill Akpabio, Distinguished Senator Effiong Bob and Emmanuel Ibiok Essien, Member Federal House of Representatives Engr Iboro Ekanem, House Leader State House of Assembly Hon Udo kierian Akpan, Chief Michael Afangide for creating time to witness the event.

A minute of silence was observed in honour of the deceased Executive Council Member, Commissioner for Investments, Commerce and Industry Late Prof. Eno Ikpe.
Prof. Victor Daniel, a native of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, former Transition Committee Chairman for Oruk Anam Local Government Council was untill his appointment a Lecturer in the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State while Sir Ibanga Akpabio is a native of Essien Udim LGA, a Legal practioner and the current State Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Mr. Ekerete Udoh, The newly created Ministry of Labour, Productivity and Manpower Planning has newly sworn in Commissioner, Sir Ibanga Ime Akpabio as Commissioner, While newly sworn in Prof. Victor Daniel Inoka, takes over from former commissioner Pastor Paul Alexander Udofia as Commissioner in the Ministry of Education.
All other commissioners and Special Advisers retain their previous posts.
