About Jupeb Programme
Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB), is a newly approved certified Advanced Level programme approved by the federal government in 2013 before formally established in December 2014 by the partnering of 10 universities headed and led by University of Lagos (UNILAG). It is an Advanced Level programme moderated by University of Lagos just as IJMB is moderated by Ahmadu Bello University. It has coordinating bodies in various tertiary institution and other affiliated study centres nationwide. It is certified by the NUC as an Advanced Level programme for Direct Entry into 200Level.
JUPEB is specially designed to give opportunity and hope to students who are unable to get admission to their degree programmes due to JAMB and other reasons. The programme only requires O'level results, also awaiting results candidates can apply. JUPEB is currently recognised and accepted in more than 40% of universities including federal, state and private institutions which means not all universities in Nigeria accept JUPEB only its affiliated universities.
JUPEB A'level programme runs for a minimum of one academic session that is, two(2) semesters. It is opened to all interested candidates nationwide with any choice of course of study.JUPEB examination is usually conducted May/June every year. The programme can be applied for in any of the affiliated universities and study centres that presently recognised it. The certificate lasts forever and can be used again unlike JAMB which is only for one year.
To be eligible to take the A'Level programme, the candidate must have been exposed to an intensive scheme of academic work relevant to his/her proposed course of study. Candidates must possess minimum of 5 Credits in a maximum of two sittings in at least 5 subjects (including English) relevant to choice of course of study. Each candidate is to undergo only a combination of three(3) subjects and each subject is to be broken into four courses which makes it twelve (12) courses, six per semester and a General studies course. The results in all the courses are to be merged at the end of the second semester to obtain a candidate's grade in that particular subject. Upon completion of the programme, students would be awarded certificates based on their level of performance. For admission into each university, each candidate, in addition to passing JUPEB examinations for issuing the Direct Entry certificate, must satisfy all other conditions as prescribed to his/her choice of university.
