You are very wrong. That is a ridiculous and even immoral application of money.

We well understand that its the name of the artist and history behind the work that pushes its value (because other than that any roadside artist can replicate the work)... we also understand that it could be an investment.

None of these facts take away the immoral absurdity of the excess involved, given the amount of desperate need in the world.

Socialists and moralists irk me.

Everyone must not be a f*cking Mormon. It is not excessive and there is absolutely nothing immoral about it. Your definition of excess is someone else's definition of not enough. If the entire country decided not to consume beer this weekend, and instead donate the money to the IDPs, we'd feed them comfortably for 1 year+.

But you wouldn't campaign for that. Instead you're hurtful that someone who is wealthy is looking for an alternate way to preserve his wealth. That my good friend is immoral.

I am neither a socialist or moralist and half literate people who make assumptions from nothing and extrapolate universes from grains of sand certainly irk me very much. I must add that people narcissistic enough to address themselves as "lord" are a vacant and vacuous drum altogether not worth the sweat from the balls of an orangutan.

I am a cheerful hedonist myself, little would you know, but purchasing a painting for that sum is indeed a thoughtless excess. If it does not strike you at once as being so, no matter: for there are after all billions of thoughtless dunderheads such as yourself in the world. The acute but simple sensitivity to reality that could elicit such a cognition is simply lacking in you and there is nothing I can do to bestir a sensitivity which does not exist.

Of course not much better is to be expected from an Ill educated blue collar half wit addressing himself as "Lord".

Now go right back to the lavatory where your day job as a cleaner is and concentrate harder.

Da Vinci never made an art without some secrets embedded within it. He remains the the greatest Cryptologist the world has ever know. Why do you think the person who bought it is anonymous... There is more to that painting than half a billion dollars. There are still secrets to be uncovered in this world like Queen Sheba's wealth, King Solomon's gold and so many others. The quest continue for a lot of adventurers out there. I believe that money is small compared to what Mr Anonymous will gain from it.

See you, most of his work are rumoured to have secret codes and maps. Do you think people are that stupid? Ordinarily art is life
This is pure ignorance.

Leonardo is a master, one of a kind, even greater than Michaelangelo. His works are very rare and the most prominent in the art world. That money is based on sentimental value, no hidden maps or anything of that nature.

I didn't say it emphatically, I said rumoured. Who doesn't know the price was sentimental value? Mona Lisa by the same man, as common as it is, has secret code

There are lots of conspiracy theories about leonardo da vinci's painting. His other painting of monalisa is said to contain a cord in the eyes, nt just in the eye but the pupil precisely. Only a microscope cn be use to see the code. So, this portrait also has a code. Hmm

Now go right back to the lavatory where your day job as a cleaner is and concentrate harder.

Everyone who has ever had an issue with my nick has proven to be intimidated by the coherence of my thought process.

And the proof is that while I actually explain why I think you were wrong, you used four paragraphs to say nothing about the point I raised but your opinion of me, which is irrelevant.

Now why would you do that, if not because your lofty, self-righteous position is not based on facts or reason but an emotional mixup of ambiguous buzzwords.

Now, if you could catch a breath and put your thinking cap on, could you explain why it is immoral to spend half a billion on a noteworthy investment that would CERTAINLY beat inflation unlike many other investments and it isn't immoral that people could choose to go for two days without drinking beer to feed helpless people for a year but wouldn't?

Oh and this is the definition of moralist:

a person who teaches or promotes morality.

You come on a public forum to bash a high-value sale of art on the basis of "morality" and you think that definition is not spot-on about you?
