Amidst calls for his return to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the 2019 presidential election, a former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has declared that he is currently a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC. In a statement by His Media Aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku was quoted to have restated his stand while receiving members of the Concerned Citizens For Atiku, CCA on Friday. The group had during the meeting urged the chieftain of the APC to return to his former party, the PDP, insisting that he stands a better chance of actualizing his presidential ambition there. This follows a similar call by a group known as the South West chapter of the Nigeria Youth Coalition, NYC. The group had also admonished Atiku to quickly return to the PDP so as to position himself properly to clinch the presidential ticket of the party for the 2019 race. However, Ibe said while people are free to express themselves as enshrined in the country’s constitution, it is important to note that Atiku who is the Waziri of Adamawa is currently of the APC.
