The Leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, yesterday, said the motion he moved on the floor of the House which led to the declaration of vote of no confidence on the Minister of Mines and Steel, Kayode Fayemi and the minister of state in the ministry, Bawa Bwari, was not a personal attack.

Gbajabiamila stated this while speaking with select journalist in Lagos.

In a recent motion by Gbajabiamila, members of the Green Chambers passed a vote of no confidence on Fayemi and Bwari. They also resolved to set up a “powerful investigative ad-hoc committee” to unravel all the surrounding issues in the Ajaokuta steel company.

“Before you bring people directly into plenary, it must be of utmost public importance. We thought the issue required that kind of importance; the speaker personally wrote the minister to give 10 days prior notice. It was only a day before the hearing that the minister caused the ministry to respond, to say he will not be coming.

“The speaker responded again urging him to make time; it was not until the hearing had commenced that the minister dispatched a hurriedly written letter and the thrust was that they are going on with the concession,” he said.

He said the legislators were justified to be furious at the absence of the minister, especially considering that nobody showed up from the ministry which “communicated disrespect for the parliament.”

According to him, “They also instructed the sole administrator of Ajaokuta not to show up; everybody smelled a rat. There was propriety to cover something; it was unfortunate that Dr. Kayode put us in that situation. We saw the mood of the house and we were not going to put our neck on the chopping block,” he said.

Femi, you needn't explain yourself.

Just that you should have extended the no-confidence motion to all ministries and that Dullard with Nepa bill.

Uncle, the only apology you owe us is that you are yet to summon the minister of petroleum for questioning.

Vote of No confidence is not enough to me, there should be a way of punishing all this minister that doesn't show up when they are called upon for explanation.

How can a minister be snubbing a whole legislative arm of government? It's a slap on the chamber and the minister need to be dealt with which will serve as lesson to others.

Buhari should have been slapped with that vote of no confidence since 2016

Can anyone of them in the house claim to have confidence in Buhari?

Can any well meaning Nigerian say he has confidence in an illiterate utility bill holder?

Can any peaceful Nigerian claim to have confidence in Buhari's terror ridden and corrupt eating government?

WhaT are we saying here?

Surely Buhari deserves it more than Fayemi, Bwari and Idris

Failure cannot hide, Fayemi failed in Ekiti as governor and is a failure now as minister.

Fayemi is a fraud. I wonder why people take a cunning character such as Fayemi seriously.

Fayemi was one of those that made sure that Tinubu and his candidate was disgraced in the Ondo election.

Gbajabiamila is a Tinubu loyalist. Tinubu pushed to have him become the speaker before Dogara played a fast one on the APC.

You can understand the political undertone.

Having said that, Fayemi has been a monumental failure in the solid mineral ministry. I cannot point to one thing he has done there in the last 3yrs.

Politics aside (Tinubu & Gbajabiamila) Fayemi is just another failure in the APC administration.

The head is routing so what do you expect from the whole body? That useless head must be removed in order to have progress and rule of law.
