Russian president, Vladimir Putin has unveiled plans for a peace congress in a bid to end the six-year Syrian civil war. Mr Putin made the announcement after talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In a joint statement the Russia, Iran and Turkish Government has urged the Syrian government and opposition to “participate constructively”. No date for the proposed congress has been announced.
