The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Professor Kolapo Olusola and other notable individuals which include an Abuja based real estate consultant, Muyiwa Olumilua, Dean Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos, Professor Funso Falade and Professor Femi Olokesusi of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State have been announced as the lead speakers at the maiden lecture organized by a socio-economic group, The Pacers in conjunction with another non-governmental group, Ekiti Future Agenda.
The lecture which will is slated for Friday, December 15th at the Ekiti State Capital, Ado-Ekiti and will be chaired by another eminent Nigerian, a veteran journalist, author and publisher, Dare Babarinsa is titled “Ekiti Future: Beyond Politics”. Speaking on behalf of the organizer of the event, the Lecture Coordinator and the convener of Ekiti Future Agenda, Adesina Adetola said the choice of the theme of the lecture is to stress the fact that it is high time the state looked beyond intrigues of politics and set a formidable structure to create a better and rewarding future for the people of the state. “Today everybody in Ekiti is thinking about partisan politics, how to get to political positions and secure political appointment without thinking much about the socio-economic development of the state. For years, political intrigues and calculations have continually enveloped the state while major issues that can make the state economically buoyant and self-reliant are being pushed to the background.” He stated.
Also speaking in the same vein, Olukunle Olu-Ojo, the Gov’nor of the Pacers declared that the lecture is designed to create a platform where issues bothering on socio-economic development of Ekiti State can be discussed.
“The lecture is essentially to discuss on economic empowerment of our people and development of the state”. He said.
Meanwhile among other dignitaries expected at the public lecture is the governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose who is the Special Guest Honour at the event. The Pacers is a non-governmental and non-partisan group founded in 2003 by like-minded Ekiti professionals with the core objective of contributing its quota towards development of the state.
