On Monday, the much-hyped outdoor and recreational event, tagged Lagos Carnival, will hit the streets of Lagos tomorrow. Billed to kick off at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos, South West Nigeria, the procession routes for the carnival include Adeola Odeku Street, Akin Adesola, Falolmo Roundabout, Awolowo Road, St Gregory's Road, Obalende Roundabout, Bamgbose Street, Campos Square, Joseph Street, Broad Street through Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Moloney Street, King George V, Onikan Stadium, MUSON, Ahmadu Bello Way and back to Adeola Odeku Street.

The Lagos Carnival, put together by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, aimed at showcasing the rich Nigerian culture and tradition. To add spice to the event, Maltina, a Nigerian made malt drink has been named as the official malt drink of the 2010 Lagos Carnival. As part of efforts to make the carnival an unforgettable experience, the nourishment brand, has pledged to reward participants who excel at the event with mouth-watering prizes.

According to the Senior brand manager, Maltina, Tokunbo Adodo, the brand would give a giant photocopier to the best choreographed secondary school in the carnival while the best choreographic group in the adult category would smile home with N1million.

He disclosed that various points would be established by Nigerian Breweries Plc where chilled free Maltina drink would be served the participating teams and Lagosians who are expected to troop out in their thousands to take part in the carnival billed for the Easter weekend of April 3 and 5.

Adodo pledged that Maltina would continue to support socio-cultural aspects of lives of the Nigerian people "by identifying with those qualities that distinguish us as a people."

He, however, pledged the brand's continued commitment to giving back to the society by way of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in a sustainable way.

During the Lagos Carnival 2010, the parades and floats will traverse major streets on Lagos Island and for the first time will also include Ikoyi and Victoria Island. These will all terminate at the Tafawa Balewa Square for a grand display by all participating carnival groups. AY Live on Easter Sunday, a comedy series will hold at Federal Palace Hotel, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos, from 6p.m. to 11p.m, while registration ends at 5p.m.
