Nigerian Boat Hijacked In Bakassi Peninsula by AloyEmeka5: 12:08am On Mar 31, 2010 |
Tuesday, March 30, 2010 Nigerian boat hijacked in Bakassi Peninsula Agency reporter Unidentified attackers on Sunday hijacked a Nigerian boat carrying goods off the coast of Cameroun, Reuters reports. http://odili.net/news/source/2010/mar/30/810.html The hijackers reportedly demanded $1.5m ransom for the release of its captain and one member of crew. The attack on Sunday was the latest in the Bakassi Peninsula, coming two weeks after a previously unknown group calling itself the African Marine Commando hijacked a Chinese fishing vessel in the area with seven crew on board. Local military and administrative officials said they believed the same group was responsible for the latest attack and a subsequent raid on a local gendarmerie early on Monday, in which they made off with firearms and ammunition. The Chinese fishermen, a common sight in West African waters, were held for a few days and released unharmed after Chinese and Camerounian officials negotiated with their kidnappers. |

I think the NAVY should set up a task force headed by AROGUNDADE and his likes. Let them go and secure our water ways instead of intimidating us on the road |

The kidnappers at the moment have not been identified so we cannot conclude if they are Nigerians or Cameroonians but my concern is what are Chinese fishermen doing on our waters? |
