FOT 2017 DAY 2
DAY TWO SUMMARY OF EVENTS

To the glory of God, the second day’s assembly of the 2017 Christian Feast of Tabernacles, ended successfully. The assembly started at about 5:19pm, with the President Brother G. O. Ifeacho calling for the opening song, TSP169 to be rendered and thereafter, taking the opening prayers.

The president in his opening remark thanked God Almighty and Jesus Christ his beloved son, reminding one and all from the lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah, that it is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed. He further stated that worshipping God Almighty in ways that are not ways of truth will not give life, causing Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 16:25 to be read as well as other portions of the Bible.

The President, after his opening remark, then called on the first speaker of the day, Brother Eseoghene Andrew Ekireghwo (Assistant Station Minister, GKS, Western Branches) to talk on the subject, “If Hell is a place meant for the wicked only, why did Jesus Christ go there?” The brother in his talk, established the fact that hell is not a place of fire for the punishment of the wicked, but rather, that it is the grave, tomb, pit, sepulchre, the heart of the earth or the condition of the dead(Genesis 37:35 – KJV & Douay Version). He then caused some of the texts cited by the “hell-fire preachers”, such as Mark 9:43-48, Matthew 25:41 and Revelation 20:10 to be read. He explained that Christ in Mark 9:43-48 was only implying that men should be ready to do away with anything that is sinful and can prevent them from entering into God’s Kingdom and thereby going to destruction, causing the text to be read again, this time, from the Amplified version of the Bible. Stressing on verse 47, he explained that “the place where the fire is not quenched and the worm dieth not”, was simply a picture language used by our Lord and Master Jesus Christ. That Christ used the picture of the valley of the sons of Hinnom (2 Chronicles 28:1-3; 2 Kings 23:10) to describe the destruction that will meet the wicked at the end. He then asked for Jeremiah 7:30-32 to be read, in which God Almighty in the first person, through the Prophet Jeremiah, said it has never entered His heart to burn His children in fire.

The brother amongst other things, explained that when the Bible talks of “Hell fire”, it is simply talking about the second death or everlasting destruction, from which there will be no resurrection – Revelation 20:13&14; Revelation 21:8.

The preacher then called for Psalm 16:10 and Acts 2:29-31 to be read, with which he explained that Christ actually died and went to hell and since Christ is not a sinner (1 Peter 2:21-22), it shows that hell is not a place for the wicked, but the grave, which all go to, at death. He then concluded his talk, with the words of Jesus Christ in John 5:28&29.

The president, after an interlude from the glorious performers, GKS, Warri Branch, who were called on stage by the master of ceremony for the day, Brother O. K. Iriferi, then called on the second speaker, Brother Progress Ayikimi, who came out and talked on the subject “Jesus Christ has come again, but where is he?”
The preacher, after thanking the two Higher powers, thanked the president and other members of the Executive Board of GKS, before going into the sermon proper.

He reminded members and friends of the great consolation, the second coming of Jesus Christ gives to mankind, citing 2 Timothy 4:6-8. He lamented how ,many false prophecies were given, prior to the year 2000 by false prophets, concerning the second coming of Jesus Christ, thinking that Christ will come again the second time in flesh, not realising, from the signs of the time, that Christ has already been crowned King of God’s glorious government and hence, has come again.

The brother then made it clear that there is no doubt that our Lord and Master Jesus Christ, will certainly come again, citing 2Timothy 4:1 and Titus 2:11-14. But however, that his second coming will not be physical as many expect or think. He then caused Revelation 1:7, which those who expect to see Christ in flesh at his second coming and then explained the text. Citing Ephesians 1:18, the brother explained that the “every eyes”, used in Revelation 1:7, refers to the eyes of understanding and not literal eyes. He then asserted that since those who pierced Christ at his first coming are already dead, it’ll not be rational to explain Revelation 1:7 as a literal text. He then explained that “they also which pierced him”, refers to opposers of truth and righteousness beginning with the wicked natural Jews, who would be punished by God Almighty, through Jesus Christ at the end, quoting 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9. The preacher established that the second presence is not going to be physical, but spiritual, as the purposes for which he’ll come, will not require his physical presence. He then added that our Lord and Master Jesus Christ and other Apostles and prophets of old, gave signs with which to establish that mankind is in the time of the end, or the end of the world, which also is the slated time for the return of Jesus Christ, citing Matthew 24:3, 7&8; Luke 21:26-31 and other texts. He then said that since the creation of man, there hath never been a war as great as the First World War that was fought from the year 1914 to 1918, which marked the fulfilment of the prophecy of Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:7&8 and hence the beginning of the era of the last days and the return of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ. Quoting the words of Apostle Paul as recorded in 2 Corinthians 5:16, the preacher made it clear that Jesus Christ will not come to this world in flesh again. That Christ has come the second time, in that he has been crowned as King of glorious government and has taken up his great power and is reigning in heaven, following the command of his father; JEHOVAH. To this, the brother cited Daniel 7:9-11.13&14; Psalm 110:2. The preacher then concluded his talk with the prayer of thanks by our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 11:25.

The president in his comments, thank God Almighty, His son Jesus Christ and the speaker, for the powerful sermon. He then caused Matthew 18:20 to be read, to reaffirm that Jesus Christ has come again and that he is in heaven, overseeing the affairs of men, here on earth. The president then took a couple of questions, sent by friends worshipping at the assembly.

Announcements for the day was then taken by Brother O. E. Oriaku, after which the resident called for the closing/offertory songs, TSP 108 and 160 to be taken, thereafter doxology and the closing prayer. The second day’s assembly was then brought to a close at about 7:27pm by God’s grace.
