Gunmen Kill Us-based Medical Doctor by Ayemokhia: 9:39pm On Mar 31, 2010
A United States-based medical practitioner, Dr. Charles Ndulue, was on Sunday shot dead by bandits suspected to be hired assassins.

Although the details of the attack were still sketchy as at press time, our correspondent learnt that he was shot dead on Sapele Road, directly opposite the Central Hospital in Benin and had been in the country for more than one year.

Similarly, a suspected armed robber was on Monday shot dead by the police on Ugbowo Road, after a shoot-out between the police and a gang of robbers at about 11:45am.

The robbers, according to report have successfully robbed a customer of one of the old generation banks of N200m.

Dr. Ndulue was said to have returned from California in the United States and was driving home after a second mass at Holy Cross Cathedral on Mission Road.

He was said to be in company with a lady suspected to be a housemaid and a one-year-old baby boy when the assailants struck.

Although the baby was not touched by the bullets, the housemaid was not so lucky as she was seriously injured.

The Spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, Mr. Peter Ogboi, confirmed the incident, saying a crack team of detectives led by a senior police officer had been assigned to investigate the killing
