Amaechi had announced the intention of the contractor, the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, to demolish the two bridges to give way to the new rail line.

Although the minister said new bridges would be immediately constructed, the Lagos State Government had then suggested digging further into the ground to accommodate the new rail track to be laid under the bridges.

They are actually building 2 new bridges to replace the ones they are demolishing with rail tracks under the 2 new bridges.

I hope you know how to read and comprehend.

Common sense should tell you that they can not completely block road access without other options.

Amaechi said the fg will replace a bridge it tore down with a new bridge on the same axis (you think am, why tear it down in the first place) .it can only be possible if the new bridges will obviously be raised higher and longer than what it is now .this has not be made clear in any of the statements. it is breaking down of the bridges that is headway.
Now this is in addition to the overhaul of the areas by the time the ground rail networks will bring .
I have not talked about the other suggestion where they could leave the bridge and go under ground
mehn Lagos state don enter Berra problem for this remove costain bridge toasting!

He is busy destroying people's means of livelihood claiming to be building a senseless mega city. this is the case when we don't plan for future demolishing becomes after math of spill over effect....today our greatest issue is no proper network of roads rail waterways between communities and town in states and states in the country.....an obvious analysis of s dysfunctional state of the nation

The brain is free gift from God and should be used.
Have you even driven on Jibowu bridge?. As at 10 years ago, that bridge was already unsafe and ripe for demolition. Same as Costa in bridge. You should actually shove your face out of social media browsing, take some means of transportation and go and see those bridges.

They are going to put columns columns and beams to carry rail tracks that will transport 100 times more commuters than the currently bridges that are at end of life. I have seen this kind of conversion in more than four world class cities.

And for the funny poster saying government should use the money to patch up pot holes , I am very my sorry for you and the PDP governments that stole your inheritance and gave you jankara market mentality. It is a SAD country we have when youths have been impoverished into visionlessness

But Lagos is relatively the best political state in Nigeria. Igbo commissioner. Delta, Igbo, and calabar man in the state house of Assembly. You can't find it elsewhere like that in Nigeria.

I doubt

Those bridges aren’t really busy lanes to begin with, just confusions(should I take the bridge, or should I go under) still d same route

they have arrived

Its a good thing if you think we’ll about it, lots of traffic congestion occurs where cars cross rail tracks

Like in Agege, Fagba, Yaba and some other places, its better if the tracks are built in ways that cars don’t have to cross them, the train should be on its track and cars too should be o. Their lanes

Activeman391:
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State says the Federal Government has concluded plan to demolish Jibowu and Costain bridges in Lagos.

Ambode disclosed this while addressing participants of the Town Hall Meeting on Security Trust Fund in Alausa, Lagos, on Wednesday.

He said the bridges would be demolished by the government to give way for the new rail project.
The governor said the project would be executed for the good of the residents and it would increase the economy of the state.

“The Jibowu and Costain bridges will give way for the laying of tracks of a Lagos-Ibadan rail project,” he said.

Ambode also said that the demolition would give room for a track that would stretch from the old Fela Shrine to WAEC end.

According to him, the track will be constructed in such a way that no vehicle crosses it.

He said that the traffic would be managed during the project and appealed to people in the state to bear with the situation.

On kidnapping, Ambode said plan had been concluded to procure surveillance aircraft that could effectively gather intelligence in parts of the state and assist significantly in dealing with the menace.

“It is pertinent to note that these criminals have not relented in their pursuit of evil. We must demonstrate that we are prepared to do whatever it takes to make it difficult for them to succeed in their evil plots.

“We will apprehend them and bring them to justice,” he said.

Ambode urged people to install CCTV cameras in their organisations to help expand the reach of law enforcement agents in the event of any security breach.
“As responsible citizens and worthy stakeholders, you also have crucial part to play for the enhancement of security in the state,” he said.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Edgal Imohimi, said the introduction of community policing and the increase in police visibility had resulted in 35 per cent decline in crime.

Imohinmi, however, said that despite massive contributions by the state security trust fund, dearth of patrol vehicles remained a challenge.

“Many vehicles attached to the divisions have become rickety and unserviceable due to old age and over usage,” he said.

Imohinmi, however, said the command would not relent in its efforts to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far, but would appreciate if additional critical fighting equipment were provided.
He said this would help to improve on the successes so far recorded in the command’s fight against crime and criminality.

Also, Secretary of the Security Trust Fund, Abdulrazaq Balogun, said there was need for organisations to engage in consistent and sustainable security model.

According to him, this will enhance strategic planning for improved security in the state.

Coming across this bold declaration of a mission statement on the part of the Government and the plea for a pledge of a renewed facilities appraisal on the side of the Police chief is commendable. And

1. The Citizens should be enduring in obedience as when the changes and development being clamoured for over the years begins to receive attention and implementation, The necessary and enabling environment for smooth job execution be provided for all and sundry involved in the exercise

2. The rail project definitely would serve a great deal in purpose with respect to the pilgrimage exercise coming up and scheduled to take off next year 2018 as not only complementary to the road network to be provided but also to serve immensely in the area of transportation for the pilgrims around and across the 8 centers within the country as well as to the various tourism sites of choice as indicated by the pilgrims on request

3. The train service plan from the Divine approval is to cut across all the 774 local Government in NIGERIA

4. The train service would be better off for the exercise considering the volume of pilgrims to be involved in the exercise annually as it involves all humanity.

5. The Security facilities plea has been part of Our (GOO) plan as well as rightly noticed during the last thought process that some persons were privy to and decided to act negatively to by the way of being selfish about and the consideration is that New, improved and better equipment are to be provided for the security agencies even if for nothing but the PILGRIMAGE EXERCISE as the experience of PILGRIMS with the SECURITY SERVICES would spur them to have a repeat of their visit since there is no restrictions to the number of times mankind can participate as it is just like the daily worshipping exercise with the only difference being that it is once a year.

As well as encouraging others to come over as well.

6. Fast paced Train would be deployed so as to cut down on the travel time frame in a bid to overcome any challenge that might be associated with the number of trips to be made daily and/or to overcome the challenges that might be posed by those who wouldn't want to visit all the 4 centers for each of CHRISTIAN OR MUSLIM PILGRIMS but would want to exit NIGERIA through the same route of landing -LAGOS as once explained during the appraisal of the Road Networks and the shape they are to take.

*IT CAN BE LESSON FOR YOU INDEED*

I do not pretend to be older than my grandpa, but the truth is despite my age, I'm old enough to confess that life is indeed a mystery.

I've seen a Landlord becoming a tenant before his death.

I've seen owner of a Benz pedalling a bicycle not for sports but for transportation.

I know a student who became the Vice Chancellor in his former University with most of his lecturers still teaching under him.

I have seen once rejected boy becoming the bread winner for a whole community.

A once sought-after lady begging a young guy half her age to date her.

A victor becoming a victim.

A driver's conductor buying the bus of his master.

A borrower recruiting the credit manager.

In life, no one knows tomorrow & you can never trust life, because it's mysterious.

Never ever forget, U may not know the full story, don't be quick to judge, every coin has two sides.
