I got wind of the protest but I told my homies to go home and relax, its too late to die in the hands of policemen when 2019 is at hand. If we had endured since 2015, then 2018 is electioneering year.

You are a genuis, I passed through the tunnel connecting concord hotel to Ph road today and I saw another group carrying placard in support of Rochas.

NAIRALAND -----A FORUM WHERE NIGERIAN YOUTHS MAKES JOKES OUT OF SERIOUS ISSUES

EVEN WHEN YOUR HUMAN RIGHT IS TEMPERED WITH SOME STILL SEE IT AS JOKES

A WHITE FRIEND TOLD ME HE HATES BLACKS BECAUSE THEIR POLITICIANS SEES THEM AS FOOLS.....AND TRUTHFULLY THEY ARE.....HE SAID ITS ONLY IN AFRICA WHERE MEDIA WRITE JUNKS AND THE PUBLIC TAKES IT WITHOUT ARGUING OR DEBATING IT....ITS ONLY IN AFRICA THAT HUMAN RIGHT IS ABUSED BY THE GOVERNMENT.... AND THE PUBLIC IN TURN BEGGS SAME GOVERNMENT TO INVESTIGATE THE FORCE THAT ABUSED THEIR RIGHTS

This is the major disadvantage of voting a Governor in ruling party in Nigerian state! Do not vote a ruling power into your state. Else they would become to powerful and overbearing! Learn this lesson ndi IMO.

computerwiz2:
Police on Monday morning attacked protesters on a peaceful protest against the Rochas Okorocha government in Imo State.

The protest, tagged ‘Occupy Owerri’, which is expected to last for one week, was called by Imo People’s Action for Democracy, IPAD, against the policies of the Governor Okorocha administration.

Chief among the grouse of the protesters is the erection of statues in Owerri, the state capital, costing millions of naira, when the state is still owing workers salaries and pensions.

They are also opposed to the appointment of the governor’s sister as Commissioner for Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment.

The group had written to the police and the State Security Service for security during the rally. While the SSS gave approval for the rally to hold, the police asked that the rally be shifted till after the yuletide period.

But the group refused, arguing that the police have no right to stop it from protesting.

Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES on Monday, the coordinator of the group, Aku Obidinma, said police fired tear gas at the protesters, beat them up and also confiscated their placards as they began the peaceful protest.

He said they won’t be deterred by the actions of the police.

This Commissioner of Police in Imo State (what is his name again?) is anti-people he was sent to protect and evidently pro-government. His antecedents points to this fact. Peaceful rallies are held all over the world. It is legal. The action of this CP is unconstitutional and should be condemned by well meaning individuals in the State. Okorocha cannot continue to hold the people hostage without some form of protest againt his misrule. This CP should be posted out of Imo State ASAP as he appears to be too close to the executive. Courts decisions in the past have declared what he and his men did today illegal. We are in a democracy! Democratic tenets must be respected and adhered to at all times.

Seun, Please tell the governor to dedicate one statute to me. Since all he has to give as democracy dividend is statutes i.e 'Okpu mmadu' in igbo

These people are so stupid and have run out of ideas. The protest flopped because people on ground are happy with Okorocha leaving the organizers with less than 15 people in attendance. They even used microphone to go mobilize people at Douglas but were ignored. There was no confrontation with Police.
