Ife nkenu asogbuemu dede,
Now fun seekers can go do movies with loved ones, while popcorn sales comes in handy, marriage proposals can go on here too,

This is a huge opportunity to entice Nollywood movie producers to come and premier their movies, host luncheons, auditions, and art exhibition,

The finishing touches, furnishing interior /exterior decorations, styles, landscaping must be top notch, and of best quality, so customers can have value for money,

Entertainment industry can cash in on this, there are parameters that will make customers expend every dime, they got on them, before leaving, while, they thirst for more.

As Promised:

The Governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano, has continued to deliver roads upon roads, from community to community, streets to streets as promised during the campaign that saw him smash every existing record in gubernatorial election both here in Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole.

Impressively, the road in pictures is the Old INEC and Y Junction Road Awka. This road, which is a major link road, in Awka and some part of Okpuno, created smooth access, to major recreational investments like Geneva Hotel and Lounge 24, a very popular Night club in Awka, was recently completed by TeeTag Construction company and awaiting commissioning by the hard working Gov of Anambra State.

Onitsha Hails Gov Obiano as he inspects the asphalting of Ukpor Street, Fegge

For a sincere leader, a government works throughout the tenure and not just for an election; and for a governor loved by his people, the citizens will always come out en masse whenever he comes by... even during unannounced visits.

That's the case of Gov Obiano of Anambra State and people of the commercial city of Onitsha, Feege to be precise.

The governor just after an official visit to Ogbaru made a surprise visit to Fegge to inspect the asphalting of Ukpor Street, a project awarded to the Nigerian Army Enginneers because their competence.

Recall that the administration of Gov Obiano had embarked on massive construction of Streets within the Fegge layout in Onitsha.

While Gov Obiano expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, the residents of the area couldn't hold their joy as chants of "Willie is Working and the People are Happy" filled the air.

.... And that's why I'm Proudly Onye Anambra!

The Type -surface Flooding Irrigation System being executed at Ogboji by the State government in collaboration with the World Bank under FADAMA 3 programme, is to be completed by next month.

This was revealed yesterday when Governor Willie Obiano visited the project to inspect progress of work.
Under the project, a major canal was constructed to convey water, three kilometers from a nearby Ugbo dam to the farm.
Using gravity, the water is to flow through eight field canals into the farm, with the aid of twelve checkgates constructed at strategic points in the farm.
There is also another arm of the irrigation project sited at Ezira, completing a total of one hundred and ten hectares of land, the coverage of the irrigation project.
Governor Obiano in his remarks, expressed happiness that the project will be coming onboard soon to complement the efforts of his administration towards supporting dry season farming in the State.
He urged farmers in the area to take advantage of the project to achieve their dreams of expanding their operations and contribute more towards the state's match towards food sufficiency and sustenability.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr Afam Mbanefo said the facility has the capacity to serve about two hundred and farmers and is a major milestone towards achieving the state's target of producing 600, 000 metric tons of rice annually.
The State Project Coordinator for FADAMA 3 Programme, Mr Chukwuka Egbue revealed that the project is at 85 percent completion, remaining the finishing works on the field canals to check environmental challenges that may arise, adding that the 3.12 kilometer road leading to the farm has also been done under the programme.
A major Stakeholder in the Old Aguata region, Chief Titus Anigbogu who noted that Governor Obiano is repositioning the state's economy through agriculture, acknowledged that the agro-potentials that abound in the region which the Governor is reactivating, has great prospects for increasing the state's capacity in food production

We need an innovative water system to provide water in our cities and villages.
The past methods of building mighty water works systems to provide water to entire cities or Greater Onitsha water scheme to provide regional water supply has failed because the concept was too complicated and our management system based on government was guaranteed to fail.

In the United States small communities or towns often come together to provide their own potable water system. This is a simple system whereby the community sinks a proper bore-hole at a designated place and pumps the water into an overhead storage tank. The water then flows by gravity from the tank into the various homes in that community. This is a simple technology that will work very well in our environment where people understand the need for self help projects. And no need for too much government intervention to provide their own constant portable water supply.

Concrete water tanks as in the picture may be easier for our bricklayers and plumbers to construct with local technology.

This simple system can solve the potable water issue in many cities and villages. There is no need to build mighty water works systems that are too expensive and too complicated for local manpower to maintain. Instead let landlords’ association be organized by government and 200-500 building in each neighborhood will come together and sink their own borehole and set up the overhead tank. The water from the tank is then piped to the various buildings who are members of that project. When about 200-500 3 or 4 storey building can come together to share the cost of sinking a proper deep borehole in a central location and pipe the water to the homes which are part of the project, the cost of the project per family may be as little as mere N2,000 naira to raise about N10 million naira for the project! A city like Onitsha can have about 10-20 of these neighborhood water systems, while Awka and Nnewi can have about 5 each.

Many towns and villages looking for what to do with the N20 million naira allocated by Anambra state government for community projects should stop building multiple useless civic centers that impact very little on the lives of everyone in the community. They should ask for this project and water piped to all compounds in their community. That way, everyone in the entire village can have at least one water pump inside their compound.

Then, a system to place water meters in front of each compound to measure their water use for billing purposes is implemented with help of state government. This neighborhood water systems will create employment, while also ensuring the constant supply of portable water at affordable prices for all. Not to mention of the fact that it will stop spread of water borne diseases.

I hope the Anambra state governor immediately put machinery in place as well as engage philanthropists and Landlords associations to begin choosing appropriate sites in each neighborhood to implement a neighborhood water supply system co-managed by that state and the landlords association in each neighborhood and every community in the state

I know there are clothe lines on Lagos line selling ready made African casual wears such as these in Onitsha.

I wish some innovative business people can have a shop in Onitsha mall or some more accessible places to sell these ready-made African casual wears. During my last visit, i had to fly to Lagos just to buy them at Balogun market. It's one of those little things that help tourists shop conveniently instead of hustle of going deep inside main market.

I hope some business people here will consider opening a shop for these in some accessible plaza in Awka, Onitsha and other places to sell these things in one stop.

The Anambra State Government has banned the operations of commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada, after 7pm across the State.

The government said it is part of efforts to curb resurging crime in the state, warning that flouting the order would attract severe sanctions.
Tony Nnachetta, commissioner for Information and Communications Strategy, in a press release made available to journalists in Awka on Sunday, stressed that in recent times, there have been a resurgence of armed robbery and other sundry crimes in the State.

It added that, “Security reports confirmed that these hoodlums operate with motorcycles. As part of the security measures towards checkmating the activities of these hoodlums, government hereby announces a ban on the use of commercial motorcycles popularly known as ‘Okada’ after 7pm across the State.

“Henceforth, Okada riders are only allowed to operate within the hours
of 6am to 7pm,” he added.

According to Nnacheta, the ban is an indication of government’s determination to maintain law and order, as well as protect life and
property of law-abiding citizens.

He warned criminals and evil-minded persons to desist from their evil acts or face the full weight of the law.

He enjoined the public to be security conscious and to offer information to security agencies at any given time.

[Anambra among the 13 States that attracted investments in the last quarter of 2017.

Thirteen states, including the Federal Capital Territory, attracted the sum of $5.3bn (N1.9tn) investments in the last quarter of 2017

By Ifeanyi Onuba

Thirteen states, including the Federal Capital Territory, attracted the sum of $5.3bn (N1.9tn) investments in the last quarter of 2017
investigation by our correspondent revealed on Friday.
The investments made in 22 different sectors of the economy from October to December 2017, it was gathered, were the fallout of the new initiatives of government particularly in the area of ease of doing business.

Based on the government’s official statistics, the FCT attracted the highest investment inflow with the sum of $2.68bn.
This is about 49 per cent of the entire investment inflow into the country during the three-month period.
Lagos State followed closely with $2.54bn investment, representing 47.2 per cent of the total investments into the country.
Akwa Ibom recorded an investment inflow of $124.84m; Ogun, $8.79m; Oyo, $7.03m; Delta, $5.69m; and Anambra, $3.77m.
Similarly, Enugu attracted a total investment of $644,890; Kogi, $500,000; Kano, $483,970; Bauchi, $425,000; Rivers, $384,817; and Kaduna, $89,975.
The sectors where the $5.3bn was invested are agriculture, $62.65m; banking, $543.37m; brewing, $2.3m; construction, $92.7m; consultancy, $2.06m; drilling, $0.3m; and electrical, $5.1m.
Others are financing, $122.68m; fishing, $99.4m; information Technology, $8.45m; marketing, $0.48m; oil and gas, $23.83m; production, $317.8m; and servicing, $216.45m.
The rest are hotels, $0.3m; telecoms, $191.01m; tanning, $0.52m; trading, $12.96m; transport, $0.55m; and shares, $3.68bn
.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, said the huge amount, which the Federal Government was spending on infrastructure projects across the country was attracting fresh investments into the country.
She said this when a delegation of about 20 investors visited him at the headquarters of the ministry to discuss investment opportunities in Nigeria.
Adeosun told the delegation led by a former Minister of Finance, Dr. Shamsudeen Usman, that in 2017 alone, the sum of N1.2tn was released by the ministry for implementation of capital projects.
She added that the ministry was ready to make such huge release this year once the 2018 budget currently before the National Assembly was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
She said part of the cardinal focus of the administration of President Buhari was to address the infrastructure deficit in the country.
This, she added, would be achieved through targeted spending at projects that would unlock the economic potential of the country.
She described the level of interest from foreign investors in the Nigerian economy as huge, adding that very soon, these interests would translate into massive investments that would create jobs and reduce the nation’s poverty level.
Adeosun said, “It’s a great time for investors to be in Nigeria. For us, it’s a better time now than last year because finally, we think that we are beginning to address through deliberate policies some of the most stubborn problems that have held back Nigeria’s growth.
“We’ve gone through very difficult adjustments but we are seeing that the macroeconomic fundamentals are much more positive and the outlook is that they will remain positive.
“The good news is that we have actually begun to take steps in terms of reducing our (oil) benchmark price by keeping it low, allowing us to rebuild some buffers.
“Our budget is predicated on lower oil price, and for me, we are focusing on revenue because we think that is the missing part of the Nigeria jig-saw.”
She said the economy had started seeing the impact of the expanded budget of the Federal Government with massive investment in power, road and rail.
“Our commitment in solving the infrastructure challenges in Nigeria is firm because we think that is what will unlock growth in agriculture and solid minerals and make us to move away from our over-reliance on oil,” the minister added.
Usman gave some of the sectors where these investors were interested in as power, manufacturing, agriculture, solid minerals, among others.

24 arrested for illegal revenue collection in Anambra

Twenty-two persons have been arrested by men of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra State, otherwise known as OCHA Brigade for the collection of illegal revenue, using fake receipts.

DAILY POST gathered that the raid, which took place in Onitsha on Friday was in fulfillment of the state government’s efforts in riding the state of illegal revenue collectors that intimidate and exploit law abiding members of the public and divert government funds.

The OCHA brigade in company of members of the Nigeria Police Force, the National Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Navy embarked on a mop up exercise at Onitsha Metropolis, targeting illegal agents who sell tickets, to commercial motorcyclists, bus drivers and petty traders.

The team visited different streets and roads in Onitsha, including Iweka Road, Owerri Road, Upper Iweka Flyover and several other places.

However, the men were brazenly resisted, just as those found guilty mobilized their cronies to haul stones and broken bottles at the brigade and security forces.

Those arrested were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, at Fegge Police Station.

Mr. Daniel Martins, Special Assistant in-charge of Security and Operations, OCHA Brigade, said the operation was to give a lease of life to lawful citizens to engage in their businesses without intimidation from miscreants.

Some of those arrested denied engaging in the act, while others justified their actions, saying it was lack of employment that made them engage in the illegal business.

CBN to Fund Anambra Rice Farming Chain
-Gov Obiano

By Kingsley Ezekwelu

Gov Willie Obiano during his inspection tour to Irrigation Works on going at Ubahuekwem in Ihiala LGA ,says that Central Bank of Nigeria has agreed to provide funds for Anambra State to offtake paddy from rice farmers at a convenient price to be determined by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The Irrigation project which is being executed by the State Government with support from the World Bank through FADAMA 3 PROGRAMME, has a 450 meter Central Pivot System and a sprinkler with the capacity to cover over 110 hectares of land.

Under the project, over 5000 hectares of land has also been cleared for farmers in the area.

Speaking after the exercise, Governor Obiano explained that the idea behind the offtake initiative, is to create a ready market for rice produce to eliminate the challenges experienced during periods of glut as well as to ensure that Anambra Brands of rice are processed by standard millers.

He revealed that through the irrigation projects which are needed for dry season farming, government aims to successfully achieve 3 effective rice planting sessions annually, to enable it meet up with its target of doing 600, 000 metric tons of rice in 2018.

The governor while noting that work is to commence soon on Oseakwa Hill road leading to the facility, urged people of the area to fully key into the dry season farming initiative of his government to boost their production capacity.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr Afam Mbanefo said the numerous efforts of the present administration at supporting small holder rice farmers when aggregated with its partnerships with agro-investors in rice production, will ensure that the State surpasses its target of producing over 600, 000 metric tons this year.

The State Project Coordinator for FADAMA 3 Programme, Mr Chukwuka Egbue emphasized that the irrigation initiative became imperative because of the state's low stock of lands and to enable farmers take advantage of the dry season which usually is a period of scarcity for them.

For the Member representing Ihiala One constituency in the State Assembly, Mr Chidi Udemmadu, Governor Obiano's foresight in keying the State fully into agriculture to create wealth and employment, is now paying off and Ndi Anambra are better for it.

In their separate remarks, the Igwe elect of Ubahuekwem, Chief Obi Odimegwu and a stakeholder farmer in the area, Chief Mike Ejezie commended the initiative by the State Government to broker an arrangement to offtake produce from the farmers, saying that through the governor's efforts, Ihiala is now a producer of rice.

The Ihiala Irrigation Project which is less than five kilometers away from the Ogbaru Irrigation facility, is to be completed and handed over by end of next month.

The light situation is averagely stable, at least 6-8hrs/d, but you must have a generator/lister for support. This hood is particularly owner occupiers because it was designed to host just duplexes. To rent a vacant one will cost upto 1.5 to 2.5million p.a, some up to 3m depending on the size of duplex. Then outright purchase is around 40-60m also depending on the size because some houses in the hood were design to have enclosed carparks, service quarters etc. You might as well purchase an empty plots that sales for about 10-25m/p, in the same hood depending on the size.

Work Commences On Esther Obiakor Road Project.

.
The seven point three dual road project, being handled by Sagee Nigeria Ltd, would be completed before December.

The Engineer in-charge, Mr. J. Duaka, said the road was in a very bad state, before Governor Willie Obiano's intervention and promised to deliver on agreed schedule.

Speaking to news men, a Civil Servant resident in the area, Mr. Emma Agidi said the Governor had been doing his best for the people and appealed to him to make inspection of road project a regular process in order to instill seriousness in the contractors.

Another resident of the area, Mr. Kingsley Afor, said the construction of the road was a welcome development as they have experienced a lot of hardship on the road noting that when completed, the road will decongest traffic along Ifite road since it linked the express road.

A house wife, in the area, Mrs Linda Anagor, said she was wishing the governor God's guidance and grace to continue in
his good works to the state.

Meanwhile, the People of Umueze Village, Amawbia have commended Gov. Willie Obiano for the link road project from Umueze to Obinagu in Awka.

Reacting to the development, Mr. Akum Obi, a Teacher, residing in the area, expressed gratitude to the Governor for keeping his promise to the people.

He noted that Amawbia benefitted from the good governance of Governor Obiano, and urged him to continue to make his administration the best.

Mrs Chinwe Okoye, a Trader, who also resides in the area and who witnessed the very bad state of the roads, before the intervention of Governor Obiano, thanked God for giving Anambra a working Governor.
