Governor Obiano inspects rice planting at Coscharis Rice Farm, Anaku

Governor Willie Obiano is presently at Coscharis Rice Farm, Anaku in Ayamelum Council Area to inspect activities at the mechanized farm.
It was observed during the inspection visit that land preparation and testing of seedlings were ongoing.
Also, a 2.8 billion naira irrigation system was being developed to feed water to the farm all season round.

As Federal Government leases National Grain Reserve, Igbariam to Coscharis Farms, Anaku, Governor Obiano, investor inspect facility.

Governor Willie Obiano and the Management of Coscharis Rice Farm, Anaku today inspected facilities at the National Grain Reserve, Igbariam.
The facility has been leased to Coscharis farms for ten years and will be used for storage.
It was observed that work was ongoing to bring the farm up-to speed in the next three months.

Ban on street trading and hawking

The Government of Anambra state hereby reiterates the ban on street trading and hawking in markets across the state, and on the streets.

Market associations, market leaders, market men and women, civil society groups, OCHA Brigade, Anambra Traffic Management Agency (ATMA), security agencies and other concerned stakeholders are to take note and enforce the ban.

Defaulters of this ban will not only have their wares confiscated but will also face prosecution.

Let us maintain a peaceful and orderly society that we will all be proud of.

Governor Willie Obiano inspects work on 280 meter bridge along the 42kilometer road leading to oilfields at Enugwu Otu Aguleri.

Governor Willie Obiano is presently at the 42 kilometer road leading to the oilfields at Enugwu-Otu, Aguleri to inspect work on a 280 meter bridge on the road.
During the inspection exercise, It was observed that asphalting and earthwork were ongoing simultaneously at different axis of the road while installation of electricity infrastructure was also being done.

Anambra State Government holds first Anambra Business Roundtable.

Anambra State Government today held its first Business Roundtable at Awka.
The session brought together critical stakeholders from the Federal Government, State Government, development partners, financiers and the Organized Private Sector, and aims at exploring new areas of opportunities to achieve accelerated economic growth, internal revenue diversification and job creation.
Governor Willie Obiano in his opening remarks, said the program is in line with the tradition of consulting with the relevant stakeholders to chart a progressive cause for the state.

Soludo, Rewane, Ogbu, Durotoye Sparkle at Anambra Retreat

Former Central Bank governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo and former Chief Economic Adviser to the President, Prof Osita Ogbu may have fired the Governor Willie Obiano administration onto the path of effective governance with their insightful lectures on the first day of the two-day strategic retreat organized for the executive council members of the government of Anambra State in Awka on Friday.

The seminal presentations of Professors Soludo and Ogbu were effectively complimented by the brilliant presentations from the CEO of Financial Derivatives, Mr Bismark Rewane and charismatic public speaker, Mr Fela Durotoye who both offered immense depth to the retreat.

In his Keynote Address titled 'Execution Effectiveness' Prof Soludo warned of the dangers of tardiness in public service, pointing out that 'planning without execution is nothing but hallucination.’

Drawing inferences from Jean Jacques Rousseau's 'Social Contract theory,' Prof Soludo observed that government exists to fulfil five basic purposes which include security, justice, freedom and human rights, welfare and prosperity and the provision of happiness to the people.

He advised the members of the cabinet to apply themselves to the brass task of leadership since they had only 7,784 hours from the day of the lecture to the end of the service tenure to make a difference.

He also advised the incoming commissioners to adopt the best strategies of great team players that would help them to provide effective leadership to the team they would inherit on assumption of office; complimenting high performers and deploying the principle of reward and punishment with an even hand.

In his own submission, Prof Osita Ogbu warned of the likelihood of slipping into inertia after a brilliant first term in office and charged the team not to relent in raising the standards set by the Obiano administration in the first term even higher.

Ogbu who spoke under the theme: 'Creating a Winning Team in Anambra; Lessons from World Cup winning Coaches,' further emphasized the importance of creating 'a society that cares.'

He further warned of the usual pitfall of dismissing the members of an inherited team as “useless” and charged the incoming commissioners to find out an effective way of fishing out bright stars in the various ministries that would help in the quest to build a better state.

Also speaking under the topic, 'The World Around us - Economic outlook in the next One Year,' the celebrated financial analyst, Mr Bismarck Rewane observed that Anambra has maintained a tradition of fiscal prudence and that the challenge facing the Obiano administration was the challenge of leaving a lasting legacy.

Throwing up some insightful statistics on the state, Mr Rewane observed that Anambra has the 4th lowest inflation rate as the year-on-year inflation figure stood at 12.82% as at February, 2018.

He further revealed that Anambra outperformed the federal government in Annual Average Budget Growth rate by 1.32% with an average rate of 13.96% as against the federal government's average of 12.64% since 2014.

Mr Rewane also revealed that Anambra is the least indebted state with a domestic debt of N3.99bn and ranks 11th in IGR generation having grown her IGR by 54.3% to become the highest in the South East.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Governor Obiano had urged the participants to pay a close attention to the lectures as they were of immense benefits to his team.

“We are going to have a very serious four years. There will be no time for gallivanting,” he warned.

It would be recalled that Governor Obiano had started his first term in much the same way, holding a retreat that provided a crucial guide to the business of governance in the state.

Anambra Govt To Inaugurate Committee On 50 Year Development Rolling Plan Next Week.

A Committee to formulate a 50-year Development plan for the State is to be inaugurated next week.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Chief James Bond Eze disclosed this during a briefing after the first meeting of the State Executive Council in the Governor Willie Obiano's second term.

According to the Chief Press Secretary, the committee has among its terms of reference, to understudy the numerous needs of the State and come up with a long-term development plan that will keep Anambra State ahead in terms of its economy, youths empowerment, social stability among many other areas.
He noted that the State Executive Council has approved the redesigning of the International Conference Center which the State Government is constructing in Awka, to ensure that it has all necessary features deserving of a landmark project of its status.
Chief Eze disclosed that plans are being made to dualize Awka Road, Onitsha and many other roads in major cities of the State, adding that the State Government will henceforth, be decisive in dealing with the menace of street trading in its major cities.

On his part, the Commissioner for Information, Mr CDon Adinuba said Governor Willie Obiano is committed to building a new Anambra that justifies the confidence the people reposed on him by returning him in an outstanding manner, adding that he has done well in his first term but his second term will be better.

Anambra state government is now ready to construct a bridge at Olumbanasa Anambra west. This is the first time such a good thing is coming to the area.
Before now the people can only access Anambra through delta illah down to onitshia. This people has suffer but not any more as Ebubedike, Odogwu Omabala is now working to connect and transform the town.

He did it in Aguleri otu
He did it in Iyiora
He did it in Umueje
He did it in Umueri
He did it in Anaku
He will do it again. Obiano will be forever be remembered when he leave office as he has touched many lives.
