The nnewi monarch must have pleaded on behalf of nnewi. You know that his son is an APGA chieftain and current TC chairman of nnewi north. If Obiano really wanted to keep that land for government, nothing could have stopped him. The pen used in signing C of O for any land in Anambra is on his desk. Leave matter.

The location name of Anambra Airport will be "UMUERI"

This was resolved as the community ends protest and gets back 288 Hectares from the state government, and more compensation for the project.

It will be known as the Chief Willie Obiano International Airport Umueri. That way, both Aguleri and Umueri win.

There are lots of special things about the roofing steel. You can never compare it to the cut and join they churn out in Nigeria. By the time they complete the project, you will see the difference between Awka ICC and those other conference conference centres built with locally made steel roofing.

Concrete buildings alone will make a place appear modern, but can never make a place beautiful. It is blending the concrete building around well positioned trees and flowers (LANDSCAPING) that makes the place both modern and beautiful. It is something that will take a while for many to understand. However, since this is a catholic school, i am sure the Reverend Sisters will ultimately transform the environment with nice trees and flowers because they understand the importance of serenity.

Generally, I think it will take the next generation that never had to live in a hut to appreciate that merely building a concrete structure better than a mud hut is not the only improvement needed. Greenery with landscaping and upgrading the ambiance of the environment through planting of trees, flowers and grass is an equally important part & parcel of moving away from the village mud house era without effort to improve ambiance of the environment.

It will indeed require the next generation who will become accustomed to seeing concrete houses in order to develop the mentality that the environment equally needs to be upgraded apart from just the physical building structure.

Anambra International Cargo Airport, Umueri and Local Conspiracies
By Okechukwu Anarado

The Anambra International Cargo Airport, Umueri stands out as the most auspicious (cynics would prefer ambitious) singular physical infrastructure capable of significantly enhancing the face of commerce and the entire economy of Anambra State embarked on by the Governor Willie Obiano administration. It will equally propel the international trade interests of the South East to Olympian heights. Hardly can anyone credit any project of such consummate economic influence to any state government that ever existed east of the Niger.

Interestingly, the history of the project portrays the wisdom in the strategic economic permutations of Dr. Chris Ngige and Mr. Peter Obi, both remarkable former Anambra State governors, during whose administrations the parcels of land at the present sight of the Cargo Airport were variously duly acquired without let to the rights and privileges of the Ivite-Umueri community, the customary owners of the project sight.
Verifiable records have it that the original intention of Orient Petroleum Resources Limited, a petroleum outfit with commanding holding by the Anambra State Government, to merely site an airstrip at Ivite-Umueri to service sales of aviation fuel from its refinery was reviewed by the State Government’s later preference for a full-blown mega International Cargo Airport that will integrate the aviation fuel sales and cargo services. To attain the new target, the search party for an appropriate site that would adequately provide for the expanded demands of the venture opted for Ivite-Umueri which had Igbariam in close competition.

Dr. Chris Ngige secured Parcel A, while Mr. Peter Obi secured Parcels B, C & D and went ahead to consolidate statutory acquisition of Parcels A, B, C & D via a process that included but not limited to a duly documented and appropriately published “NOTICE OF REVOCATION OF RIGHTS OF OCCUPANCY ISSUED UNDER THE LAND USE ACT CAP 202 LAW OF FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA 1990” signed by Governor Peter Obi on the 27th of July, 2010. This was well over three calendar years before the emergence of Governor Willie Obiano as Peter Obi’s successor.

These Parcels of land did not suffer any haphazard or arbitrary delineation. Due processes and professional international best practices were deployed in their survey - with coordinates that bear them out. While Parcel A measures 760.279 hectares, Parcel B measures 539.781 hectares; and Parcels C and D measure 276.746 hectares and 324.894 hectares respectively. These figures summing up to 1901.7 hectares did not happen howsoever. NO!

On the 24th of November, 2011, via a letter entitled “RE-ACQUISITION NOTICE IN RESPECT OF PARCELS A, B, C AND D OF LAND MEASURING APPROXIMATELY 1901.70 HECTARES SHOWN ON SURVET PLAN NO ANO(A)108 FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ANAMBRA INTERNATIONAL CARGO AIRPORT” the Anambra State Government invited “representatives of Ivite-Umueri Community as well as their representative registered land Surveyor for a joint inspection of the above site.” Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning officials; representatives of Umuefi Nteje (a community contiguous to Ivite-Umueri) and their registered land Surveyor were also invited. Each of the communities was asked to appoint four representatives exclusive of their land Surveyor and Estate Surveyor. This joint physical inspection exercise was conducted to enable straightening of any doubts there might be about actual demarcation points of the parcels of land so demised to Anambra State Government.

The Anambra State Government, in 2012, paid a monetary compensation of N145,520,021 (One hundred and forty-five million, five hundred and twenty thousand and twenty-one naira) to the Ivite-Umueri community (the customary land owners) as compensation for Parcel A of project site. This transaction was effected through the duly appointed Attorneys of Ivite-Umueri community: Messrs. Cele Ugonabo & Co, and Gilbert Nwanna & Partners.

In a letter of the Ivite-Umueri Consultative Assembly to The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Lands, Awka, Anambra State jointly signed by Engr. Pius Achiebo (Chairman) and Mr. Jideovo Oyi-Onyeogu (Secretary General), dated 9 – 11 – 2016, they, while acknowledging receipt of compensation (though they said the payment was made “sometime in 2014” against Government’s record of payment in 2012), pleaded with the Commissioner as follows, “We therefore plead to our amiable Commissioner to use his good office (sic) and ensure that the payments in respect of parcels B, C, and D, are paid to Ivite Umueri through our Attorney, Gilbert Nwanna.” They also appealed with the Commissioner to “come and ascertain the extent of revocation so as to enable the land owners to make use of their adjourning (sic) land by placing long beacons on their own.”
Evidently, with the conclusion of enumeration and Environmental Impact Assessment, and full payment of compensation by the State Government in respect of Parcel A (N145,520,021 paid in 2012) and Parcel B (N142,251,240 paid in two installments of N72,251,240 and N70,000,000 in 2016 and November 2019 respectively), the Government sufficiently expressed its determination to walk its talk on the Airport Project. It however took the unprecedented commitment of Governor Willie Obiano, who himself effected compensation payment for Parcel B, for the Anambra State Government to fully mobilise to site pursuant to making the Airport dream come alive; hence the unrestrained speed of high profile construction work at the project site, as well as the successes the Governor is making in the intangible realms of seeking endorsements from relevant Federal Government and International Authorities for unhindered resumption of operations of the Airport when the speedily ongoing infrastructural demands would have been met.

With the above spate of developments towards the realization of the Anambra State International Cargo Airport, Umueri, every progressive and fair-spirited person, particularly those in whose immediate neighbourhood the project domiciles, should be jubilantly awaiting the birth and flourish of the venture. But to one’s utter consternation, it has been observed that a few disgruntled indigenous Ivite-Umueri fellows, who probably have grossly compromised themselves in unholy land deals affecting the demised Airport space, band together seeking to cast the Commissioner for Works, the Governor and the Anambra State Government as despotic land grabbers who, driven by invidious motives beyond the greater good for the greater majority, are using coercive state powers to extort large portions of farmland from Ivite-Umueri people. This group struggles to advance the bland and tedious argument that Gov. Obiano and Engr. Marcel Ifejiofor, both indigenous to Aguleri, are prosecuting a territorial expansion agenda of Aguleri people by facilitating the inauguration of the Airport operations with a view to adopting the project for the Aguleri community.

How puerile an argument for a project that is not only relatively far-flung from Aguleri town, but whose name duly bears Umueri as the town of domicile? And to bring the wanton emotional victim-conspiracy to the fore, the Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Bornaventure Enemali, who, being the host Commissioner for the project, should have been majorly implicated by the group had they any genuine claim, was not in any way pronounced culpable by the group. Yes, he is not an Aguleri man, so his involvement would stir no rumble!

Oftentimes good intentions and pliant acts towards their realisation attract frivolous reactions intended to thwart noble causes. The sustenance of a mission therefore becomes the preoccupation of a visionary whose determination to lend credibility and flesh to a cause compels to maintain an unwavering focus on the target, else both the noble spirit and the project fizzle out and gladden ignoble hearts.
Governor Willie Obiano has stoutly demonstrated his resolve to birth the Anambra International Cargo Airport, Umueri, regardless of peripheral attempts to scuttle his avowals to increasingly expand the frontiers of good governance as long as his term runs.
Okechukwu Anarado, a social analyst, writes from Adazi-Nnukwu

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwB0VIZC28o

After collecting compensations for parcels A,B,C and D lands acquired by Anambra state government for the airport project, it appears some members of the community want to play 419 by selling the same lands to unsuspecting private individuals who want to benefit by presence of an international airport in the area to own properties there.

Ordinarily, i would have suggested that the state government fish out these bad eggs, drag them through the courts and totally deal with them. Until they exhaust all the money they collected from illegal land sales. But since this is such a joyous project for the entire state, the current agreement to pay even more compensation for already compensated lands, and release some previously compensated and acquired lands back to the community is a very magnanimous decision to keep the community and every onye Anambra happy with the project.

What i love most is the three levels of the airport! This shows the structure is indeed massive. Looking at it, each level should be able to accommodate up to 250 - 300 seats! Thus, it will be able to hold a good number of passengers and even a little space for, toilets, food or gift shops on each level!

The ground floor can host the airline check in counters, the luggage claims carousel, Security clearance gate for travelling passengers, toilets and a few shops!

Thus it will take several years before expansion of the terminal building will be needed.

The production capacity of Khaki suits of corps members at the NYSC garment production factory in Mgbakwu, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra state has increased from 10000 to about 15000, the Factory Manager, Mr Joshua Onifade has said.

Onifade disclosed this when the State Coordinator, Kehinde Aremu paid an inspection visit on the facilities and the production activities at the factory.

He attributed the production increase to the procurement of more automatic sewing machines and securing the services of new tailors.

There is a ministry of works. But if you put idiots there then you shouldn't expect much. The problem with most state governments is that civil service is staffed by incompetent people who can't conceptualize. Such that everything a new governor does becomes a special project that is 3x the price because you have to bring in engineers from outside and materials and equipment from outside and must deliver in a short time frame.

The smart governors like Sullivan Chime and Dave Umahi get around that by creating a big multi year work program from the beginning to keep those imported skills around for 8 years and loyal. Chime handed over most roads in Enugu to Arab Contractors who could then lower prices.Umahi did the same with his concrete roads.

For Anambra the only governor who knew how to manage projects was Ngige who gave most key roads to construction giant RCC. Obi started the bad habit of awarding projects to many small companies like Inter Bau, Paul B, IDC etc. which Obiano continued.

When you award a small project to a company, you will get them taking shortcuts and inflating prices and wasting time. They are not motivated to do a job well.

The ICC suffered from the failures of the same people that built ramps and called them Flyovers and decorated them with fake lekki style bridge towers. Originally speced to be 5,000 sqm it was varied by none other than HE to be 7,000 sqm. Designed by some unknown Anambra fellows in Lagos. All 7,000 sqm to be under one roof no pillars. Of course the failure was in the process. Simple tender, bid, award process bypassed by villagers in government. Other state governments that followed process got it right. Calabar Conference Center easily one of the best in Nigeria as is Gombes. Yet Anambra calls itself light of the nation while fumbling in darkness.

Its a small terminal similar in design to Akanu Ibiams old terminal. The upper levels are for offices. It has a limited departure hall and baggage carousel. I don't know why the government is hiding the design when others openly publish theirs. Ibom state government international airport design is openly published

.

A small terminal is a safe way to get into the aviation game especially when any consultant would have questioned why another airport when Owerri, Asaba and Enugu are within 60km radius.

By the way, have you seen that the Anambra International airport is about 70% completed? You are primitive. Anyone who criticizes the airport must be yoruba. No wonder if is your ilk that support the nonsense that passes for government in Anambra.

As for the rest of your silly drivel, that airport is smaller than ROBAN Supermarket Awka and ROBAN did not spend 6 billion to build his supermarket. It is smaller than Innosons Car Assembly plant in umudim, Nnewi so I wonder what all the hype is about.

You are masturnating over ramps in a so called international airport. Which modern airport uses ramps? They use escalators and elevators. But then Obiano loves shortcuts. If not ramp for flyover, why not ramp for mini airport.

Unlike you and the rest of your miserable band of hypsters I see through the bullsh$t of government propaganda. Stadium that was supposed to be ready December as of March UNCOMPLETED. ICC supposed to be ready September 2020 UNCOMPLETED. Second Niger Bridge will be completed in before this mini terminal you call international airport.

Ibom state government international airport design is openly published

https://www.3tiprogetti.it/project/ibom-international-airport/
.

A small terminal is a safe way to get into the aviation game especially when any consultant would have questioned why another airport when Owerri, Asaba and Enugu are within 60km radius.

x

An airport terminal is not a church building that thousands have to fill before mass begins or even a football stadium.
People book flights online ,then wait at home or in a close by hotel for the time their flight takes off. That terminal building is of modest standard and I believe that it has enough space to handle quite a huge traffic.
Besides you contradict yourself,.you claim that the Anambra airport won't be profitable because there isn't enough people going to use it and on another hand, you say that the terminal building is very small to accommodate large populations (a large population means that the airport will make profit)

Mktinsight is a demonic sadistic fellow that hates to see any picture of the airport. The pictures of the airport usually traumatise him. Mktinsight needs psychological evaluation. Mktinsight has been rejected offline and online cheesy

Please stop quoting me! We are not mates that you think your little clever intrigues will get you anywhere. We all know you unfathomable hatred for Anambra. Yet, you have no hatred for your state that receives so much more than Anambra from Federation account with absolutely nothing to show for it!

Go to Ogun thread and suggest to them! Leave Anambra people alone! Even a dundee know that Peter Obi performed better than Ngige and Obiano performed better than Peter Obi. You have carefully inserted Ngige there to give the impression that people in APC know anything at all.

By the way, have you seen that the Anambra International airport is about 70% completed? I know a seller of sniper if you would like to order some before the next round of pictures next month that will show you tiled floors inside the terminal building, completed runway with night landing and ATC tower that is already functional. grin

Clearly you are blind not to have noticed the large sloping corridors leading to the upper levels and the large areas in the upper level. There is no way you make corridors that wide if the upper levels are not for passengers. In any case, your wicked thought for the airport has come to naught. It is progressing and the government is right to have kept their project out of the wicked eyes of anumanus. We know your type in Nigeria. If you want to find out about the project TRAVEL TO UMUERI AND TAKE SOME PICTURES! Stop hoping on someone's else's pictures while you refuse to leave your abode in Osogbo! Gov. Obiano promised Ndi Anambra that the airport will be a parting gift to the people and he wants it to be a surprise to us. We are happy that he is keeping it a surprise gift to us so that we will be wowed when we see the final product. We like it how our Governor has planned it. Go and tell your own state governor to give your people a surprise parting gift too!

Slow poison. cheesy
