Some babies are born with pimples that resemble the ones that usually explode in adolescence. Some develop them some weeks or months after birth. It is a common condition, known as baby acne.

The acne is mainly seen on the face, especially on parts such as the chin, cheeks and the forehead. It can, however, spread to the back.

It is easy to confuse baby acne with milia. The former appears as small reddened pimples while the latter form small whitish bumps on the baby’s facial skin. Another condition that may be confused with these two is eczema. In the case of eczema, a scaly and reddened rash will form.

Baby acne on the face is largely benign. It will clear on its own time even when left untreated.
