HtwoOw: Its better you go look for someone who is in the know to give you a detailed explanation of what is happening rather than hold on to the government's unending propaganda. For more than a year now, no marketer has been involved in importing PMS, reason - the landing cost was more than the government's approved ex-depot price(not to even talk of pump price). The cause of this is the high exchange rate and the gradual increase in crude prices. Now what most of them do is to buy invoices from NNPC and then load off NNPC imported cargoes and then retail. Now put it anyhow you like, there is still some form of subsidy being paif by the government on pms imports as NNPC either brings in these pms via their crude swap deals or theg access special rates from cbn to be able to meet the approved price. What the marketers has always insisted is simple, its either you allow us access forex at special rates via cbn or you take care of the difference between landing cost and the amount you want us retailing. That way we can join nnpc to import. Only time will tell what the government will do. 15 Likes 2 Shares |

Why is the scarcity always coming during December and yuletide. Why not during other months of the year and celebration? This government have nothing to offer. They are simply clueless. Why have they refuse to plan so that there won't be scarcity of fuel knowing very well that people travel more during this season. Only God will judge everybody that brought us to this level. 5 Likes 1 Share |

No rest for Nigerians. If world crude oil price goes down, they suffer in the hands of the government, in the name of dwindling national income from crude oil sales. If world crude oil prices go up, they suffer again in the name of increasing price for petrol importation by the fuel marketers in connivance with the government. Truly no peace for Nigerians. Suffer Suffer. 25 Likes 2 Shares |

the official explanation they always give is that if they increase pump price of pms, the products would be readily available right from when Fuel sold for just 70k till now the same reason given they may likely increase it to about 200 naira per litre but I assure u, by this time next year, they would be clamouring for another increase this cycle would not end soon 5 Likes |

We need more suffering in Nigeria to wake us up from our slumber. This guy says pump price should be 170 but major marketers in PH are selling at 200. 2 Likes |

It is funny that detractors can believe that a Nigerian business man will import fuel and sell at a loss consistently for months! Is it charity? Please tell us another story. This one is suspect. Truth is marketers want to rake in obscene profit and are muscling the public to "pay up". 4 Likes 1 Share |

I just can't explain what is wrong with the civil society groups , the labor unions and activists . What stops us from rehabilitating at least one of our refineries ? why do we derive pleasure in punishing ourselves ? from the dust we came , to it we'd return . 4 Likes |

Fix our refineries. We cannot have total control over the price of oil that we don't refine. This govt needs to be more proactive in their actions. This problems is not unforeseeable. It is elementary that we can't expect the pump price to remain thesame when the exchange rate and the landing costs have increased. APC do something |

haibe: go back, read the article & then come back here to erase your comment because it doesn't correlate. but to help you, the price of crude oil, which is the raw material for PMS (& other associated products) DIRECTLY affects the price of PMS... & to show that you were simply rushing to comment, you say the landing cost of 'refined oil' is $59, please, always read before commenting... $59 is the price of crude oil in the international market... if the landing cost of 'refined oil' is $59, then price of PMS would be about N1,500 p/l... |
