Please don't be stupid, how much was lost to subsidy scam compared to the benefits Nigerians got? Upon all the subsidy there was still scarcity and queues and they even pushed for more

Subsidy was abused and should never be allowed again, period

At $59/barrel marketers are shutting down, imagine at $100/barrel meanwhile dollar was maintained at 150 - 180, reserve was at $30bn, excess crude was as $32b... please please.. am in enough stress already..

I wonder if you people's brains always leave you when you comment, Buhari ran a successful government for 2 years plus but nothing you people won't complain about

FYI there's been no subsidy for over a year and fuel was supplied at govt approved price , do not confuse greed with anything else

Other than allow these PDP fuckkkkers to hold Nigeria to hostage, it's better to merge marketers into 5 or more, anybody who can't cope with imports should be eliminated from the formula, Banks were merged and we got better service, I totally oppose paying subsidy because that'll be going back to the vomit we all complained about

Its better you go look for someone who is in the know to give you a detailed explanation of what is happening rather than hold on to the government's unending propaganda. For more than a year now, no marketer has been involved in importing PMS, reason - the landing cost was more than the government's approved ex-depot price(not to even talk of pump price). The cause of this is the high exchange rate and the gradual increase in crude prices. Now what most of them do is to buy invoices from NNPC and then load off NNPC imported cargoes and then retail. Now put it anyhow you like, there is still some form of subsidy being paif by the government on pms imports as NNPC either brings in these pms via their crude swap deals or theg access special rates from cbn to be able to meet the approved price. What the marketers has always insisted is simple, its either you allow us access forex at special rates via cbn or you take care of the difference between landing cost and the amount you want us retailing. That way we can join nnpc to import. Only time will tell what the government will do.

Why is the scarcity always coming during December and yuletide.

Why not during other months of the year and celebration?

This government have nothing to offer. They are simply clueless. Why have they refuse to plan so that there won't be scarcity of fuel knowing very well that people travel more during this season.

Only God will judge everybody that brought us to this level.

No rest for Nigerians.
If world crude oil price goes down, they suffer in the hands of the government, in the name of dwindling national income from crude oil sales.

If world crude oil prices go up, they suffer again in the name of increasing price for petrol importation by the fuel marketers in connivance with the government.

Truly no peace for Nigerians.

Suffer Suffer.

the official explanation they always give is that if they increase pump price of pms, the products would be readily available

right from when Fuel sold for just 70k till now the same reason given

they may likely increase it to about 200 naira per litre but I assure u, by this time next year, they would be clamouring for another increase

this cycle would not end soon

We need more suffering in Nigeria to wake us up from our slumber.

This guy says pump price should be 170 but major marketers in PH are selling at 200.

Here's how daft the immediate and the past leaderships of this country are...

They sell a barrel of crude oil(159litres of 6 constituent oil) @ $59/N17,000 per barrel)

They later buy a barrel of 1st constituent of the crude, which is PMS, (1 barrel @ $55) + a barrel of 2nd constituent of the crude, which is kerosene, (1 barrel @ $57) + a barrel of 3rd constituent of the crude, which is diesel, (1 barrel at $70), then sum up all they spend importing what they exported @ $59, that would give $182.

They earn $59 per barrel exporting crude oil. They spend $182 importing a barrel of petrol, a barrel of kerosene, and a barrel of diesel.

A mermaid sells her fresh fish at N100. She later buys it back as fried fish at N200.

Isn't she a daft mermaid?

It is funny that detractors can believe that a Nigerian business man will import fuel and sell at a loss consistently for months! Is it charity? Please tell us another story. This one is suspect.

Truth is marketers want to rake in obscene profit and are muscling the public to "pay up".

Where are all the subsidy is a scam folks...

Where are all the "a barrel sold for $100"... now its selling for $59 and we are already screaming.. without knowing the higher it goes the more we pay for refined crude.

At last.. jonathan has been vindicated on subsidy. He claimed to pay an approx of $400m monthly. If he had punished the masses like we are now and saved that money in our treasury.. we would be hitting $80bn, but he had a sympathetic and empatetic heart.

Why is Nigeria like this?

if at $59 pb, the landing cost of fuel is N145-N170, imagine the nightmares GEJ was going through when crude was between $80-$90 pb to keep fuel at N97-N87 & still maintain an exchange rate of N150-N180 - $1 for over 3 years...

pmb's major albatross is his previous utterances - the lies & deceit...

it is now very obvious that GEJ was actually spending between $15b-$20b yearly on subsidy.

Fix our refineries. We cannot have total control over the price of oil that we don't refine. This govt needs to be more proactive in their actions. This problems is not unforeseeable. It is elementary that we can't expect the pump price to remain thesame when the exchange rate and the landing costs have increased. APC do something

This your calculations get k-leg sha

you mean you will get 3barrels of products from one barrel of crude. That's not how it works in reality but I get your point

I think u are mixing things up. We don't import crude oil, we import refined oil. The landing cost of $59 is for refined oil; so you aren't comparing like with like

go back, read the article & then come back here to erase your comment because it doesn't correlate.

but to help you, the price of crude oil, which is the raw material for PMS (& other associated products) DIRECTLY affects the price of PMS...

& to show that you were simply rushing to comment, you say the landing cost of 'refined oil' is $59, please, always read before commenting... $59 is the price of crude oil in the international market...

if the landing cost of 'refined oil' is $59, then price of PMS would be about N1,500 p/l...
