Hello Nairalanders
I noticed something that has been a source of concern to me....
The aim of this thread is to find out whether it is a normal thing which I never noticed in the past or I'm the only one affected.

My account numbers are connected to my AIRTEL line, I receive alerts and use USSD code for online banking on the line. Recently I noticed that each time I want to do any transaction using USSD code I would be notified that I have insufficient funds. The fact that AIRTEL is not my main line, I barely recharge it coupled with the fact that their tariff is higher than the other line I use.
So each time I see the notification, I would recharge before doing the transaction. I assumed I just needed to have airtime and that I won't be charged for transacting.

However, I just realized that AIRTEL has been charging me #10 each time I use USSD code for any form of transaction including transfer, airtime recharge, account balance enquiry etc.

Fellow Nairalanders.... Are you experiencing the same thing on Airtel or any other network?

If it is airtime that is been charged, such charges are from your service provider. However, if the charges are been deducted from your bank balance, then that is from your bank.

That N10 charge is common on my Access Account whenever I check my balance. I'm not so sure of recharge because I rarely recharge from the account.

However, no charges of any sort on my UBA account.

It's from the network provider not bank.

Lol. UBA is even charging on top of the one Telecoms are charging.
Funny thing is that you will not get SMS alert on such debits. You need to check your account statement.
As someone who regularly checks his balance everyday to confirm if clients paid, I got charged exorbitantly plus the credit that is deducted from my line.
I am not aware of any notice made by the bank on such practices.

Yes, they charged me about N30 to transfer cash, I think N10 to recharge a line. That's why I dusted off my hardware token and resumed my online transfers jejely.

I want to believe the charges is a more like an agreement between the network providers and the bank. (Each time I use airtel and etisalat on) Fidelity, Access, they deduct N25 but free with diamondbank
