yeah, and upon the fact that they have the biggest opportunities as biggest earners, the richest of that category isn't worth more than 2billion dollars(Michael Jordan is the richest sportsman in the world and not worth up to 2b dollars, world Richest actor isn't a billionaire, world Richest rapper isn't a billionaire, world richest singer isn't a billionaire either) compared to people that started with close to nothing but are worth almost 100billion dollars today. there are many business men that started with a little but can buy all the richest entertainers and sportsmen put together today. its like that all over the world.
In Nigeria you see many musicians and sportsmen that used to be big earners and spenders but today surpassed by business men that started with 500k or less around the same time or after. its not like these entertainers and celebs don't have business sense too but its impossible for them to keep business rules like prudence, monitoring, dedication, etc which draws them back. no famous celeb or sportsman wants to be seen not riding and maintaining nice cars, flying first class or private, wearing blings, etc but one must avoid all that to succeed in business. I'm sure Amokachi was richer than Otedola in the 90's but to keep up that celebrity lifestyle isn't easy and today he isn't in the same level with Otedola even though its sure he might have invested more money into businesses than Otedola but its not about how much you invest in business but how business minded and prudent you are. Who is Otedola impressing to be spending lavishly when he started his business, even up till now,he might choose to use a simple car or phone and people would praise him for it but if a celeb or sportsman tries it,people would label him as broke especially of its persistent, remember Azadus paying okada man. So,full time business men will always be far richer than entertainers and sportsmen. Fame itself is very costly to maintain, you have to spend to nurture it and that would decrease your money doubling strength.
But the reason is not necessarily because they are entertainers or sportsmen but because they are employees. Hardly do employees become billionaires. Even Sillicon Valley that has a lot of billionaires has no billionaire that made their money from being employees. Now the business men in entertainment and sports are owners of record labels, film studios, sports team and there you have billionaires. So, in essence, the surest way to be a billionaire and remain like that for a very long time is by becoming an employer of labour.

I'm sure some Olabisi Onabanjo University students who are reading this are also thinking of dropping out.
if that's the best for them. dropping out is nothing to them in developed nations. its only in Nigeria that people commit suicide if they are expelled or withdrawn from school or even fail. people rely too much on certificate here and it has drawn us back too much, that's why we are not developing as a nation. read about many great Americans in all fields,so many drop outs, not from Harvard alone but other universities too. Will Smith got scholarship to study in the prestigious MIT(Massachusetts institute of technology) and he turned it down to focus on rapping,if he went for it,he wouldn't be where he is today and that's why America is so developed, they use their talent, brain, ability to the maximum for themselves but an average Nigerian thinks his certificate is the end of the world and that's typical African mentality and myopic thinking and that's why we have too many jobless graduates and blame government when its impossible to employ even half of them.

yeah, the business men among entertainers and celebs are those I considered as the richest in the world and yet, they are nothing compared to many business men due to the factors I mentioned above. its certain,it will surely affect them one way or the other. Do you know how much Diddy has wasted in his life in the name of living lavish like a celebrity should? if he was strictly a business man with the same success with the one he has as a rapper,he would be way richer because he's like the Bill Gates of Rap

What product does Diddy sell that will make him a billionaire (not saying it's not possible)? He's a rapper and a record label owner. Both combines cannot make him a billionaire. Even Jayz and Beyonce combine are not billionaires. It's not every kid of business that can make one super rich. Haven't you noticed that most of new billionaires are IT billionaires.

The worst part is that those great minds existed before the internet. . . so their ideas would be thrown out the window by arrogant professors instead of researched on. And theyd have no avenue to share them with others except they could raise money to travel. Things are quite easier for us today, and while there are still millions if juicy business opportunities in Nigeria, the environment is a very big retarding factor.
Bull's eye, bruh! You're pretty much on point.

Before you dropout like this guy, let me analyze something
1. You're probably droping out of a college or polytechnic - no offense to college and polytechnic students, he dropped out of Harvard!!
2. He has a dream before droping out, he didn't just drop out because he is tired of school or because his cgpa got injured
3. Starting a business over there is easier than our country, except you want to turn to a regular boring blogger
4. He is creative, creative thinkers, big picture thinkers, possibility thinkers are what makes up a successful entrepreneur
5. Another vital thing that can make you drop out is your talent
6. Big businesses require big capital, although you can start small but money will give your business a boost, going to a school like harvard means his parents are averagely rich

thanks for this piece bro. most people don't get it. getting into harvard in the first place shows that the guy is an extraordinaire, a success driven individual with big goals. People like this know why they are dropping out and most, if not all, do have something to fall back to in case they did not succeed the first time.

Africans especially Nigerians do not understand education. The main yardstick for measuring the quality of education in Nigerian remains one's ability to read and speak impeccable English. Great nations like China, Germany, France, etc do not speak English. Britain taught English to Nigerians to bridge the communication gap while Nigerians turn around to make it the center point of education. Engineers turned technicians, doctors turned technicians, lawyers that cannot write ordinary contracts. Yet everyone speaks English well.
The foundation is weak. Throw in sick government and conniving religious leaders who sell miracles and picking calls, then you get a perfect stagnant nation.
/

It has nothing to do with English.

Africans are not serious people, that has always been our problem

You are very correct.

Do you remember Lord Lugard's speech about Africans?

Africans are very serious only in pursuit of pleasure.

Meet John Collison, who can today be referred to as the World's youngest self-made billionaire, after he dropped out from Havard to focus on his business.

When people look down on you, and think crazy of that bright idea you have got, just keep moving and don't lose hope. The story of this young man is sure to inspire you, and make you realise that you can make it in life regardless of your educational qualification.

John Collison, the cofounder and president of Stripe, is the world's youngest self-made billionaire at 27, and you can do the same, there is no limits to the heights we can attain in life.

John started Stripe, designed to transform the way people make online payments, with his older brother when he was just 19.

Originally from a small town in Ireland, he came to the US to attend Harvard until he dropped out to focus on Stripe in Silicon Valley, and now he has hit Silicon Gold.

John Collison has a net worth of $1.1 billion today, after Stripe's $9 billion valuation in the year 2016. Today, Collison enjoys flying planes, running, and hiking with members of the Stripe team.

Before you think of dropping out, remember he's an Harvard University drop out. The intellect is there.

All these guys that dropped out from Harvard, Stanford etc
are smart, they didn't need those schools, but that doesn't mean they didn't study. They managed to learn things by themselves at a faster pace than was offered to them an evidence of this is their admission into these Ivy League universities.

Moreover, your demographics is an issue. Alot of Nigerians will be more successful than they are if they reside in developed countries.

A lizard in Nigeria can't be a crocodile in US or any other outside country
