In what has been described as unprecedented since it opens officially in 2016, Maryland Shopping Mall witnessed a massive turnout of shoppers and fun-lovers earnestly seeking outlets to spend the New Year’s Day.

So crowded was it that shoppers were practically struggling to make their way in and out of the mall. While some were basically there for sightseeing, some others were seen in alleys and outlets taking selfie.

It reached a feverish heights when both escalators stopped working. At that point, even the management of Shoprite, a South African retail giant was compelled to shut its two exit doors when the crowd was becoming uncontrollable.
