Funny enough that we don't even know the airline she boarded to NY, there is a possibility that it can a be US airline. Despite the fact that the flight originated from France doesn't mean it will usually be a French airline. Hopefully, she's on a US airline then she got no worries.

hahahaha, I just did some searches and it usually more complicated than I said it. In this case, the child may likely be a French citizen (being the home country to Air france) but possibly being a US citizen only if the plane was already in the US airspace at the time of birth. Based on the article, I read the plane was 4 hours from NY when the mother was in labour which cannot be called a US airspace.

And France does not give automatic citizenship except if one of the parents holds a French nationality
