Nasarawa: DSS Arrest Journalist Over Report Against Gov. Al-Makura

The Nasarawa state command of the Department of State Services (DSS) has on Thursday detained Akolo Raymond, editor with an online tabloid, Nasarawa Mirror over report against Gov. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

Voice of Nasarawa (VoN) recalls that the privately owned media tabloid published a report standing-upon line with the accommodation of Fulani herdsmen who were dislodged from Benue State.

Mr. Raymond was arrested following an executive order by Gov. Al-Makura to DSS in the state capital, Lafia.
VoN gathered that his illegal detention has lasted for 24hours without foresight of his release.

It is on record that Gov. Al-Makura had never tolerated unfavorable reports by journalists against his personality and administration. The governor had onnce banned Punch Newspaper correspondent, Umar Mohammed and Rabiu Omaku, Universal Reporters attached with government house over same scenario.

Mohammed Yangida, Blueprint Newspaper correspondent was also attacked by aides to Gov. Al-Makura over a reportage the governor termed antagonistic and propaganda against his administration. Indication has also emerged that the governor demolished Breeze FM for airing anti-government opinions.

That's dictatorship, not democracy!
