The federal government in collaboration with Dapper Exclusive Style limited has expressed desire to partner with stakeholders in using cycling to promote the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Senior Special Assistant SSA to the President on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja at the official unveiling of a cycling competition tagged: Racing for Sustainable Development, which is scheduled to hold February 24, 2018.

The SSA to the President on SDGs who was represented by Mrs Laola Olaopa explained that the competition has been put together by some SDGs enthusiasts to promote the sustainable development goals, that the racing for sustainable development goals is an exclusive awareness campaign that is gear towards promoting 13 out of the 17 goals of Sustainable Development.

According to her, the sustainable development goals are a set of global goals consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets, which Nigeria was one of the countries that signed into at the United Nation’s summit in 2015.

Orelope-Adefulire further explained that the goals are aimed towards addressing critical global challenges of the present time which bothers on economic, social and environmental issues.

“As such we expect that every nation that is saddles with the responsibilities of implementing this models to achieve the SDGs should work collectively, as we saying through our slogan ‘leaving no one behind.’ We are not going to leave anybody behind.

“It is in the process of not leaving anybody behind that SDGs has decided to support Dapper Exclusive Style limited in the cycling completion. The underline resolve of the SDGs forms the solid bedrock on which the 2020 agenda was conceived, with the need for consensus building and synergy to enable every nation reach this collective destination point by achieving this goals which are in successor to the milestone recorded during the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

“The SDGs therefore, I want to say, is building on the successes recorded in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). I wish to therefore implore all Nigerians to participate in the upcoming event of the cycling completion. The youth of this country should be actively involved in achieving this goals for a sustainable future,” she said.

Earlier, the President of Dapper Exclusive Style limited, explained that the 10 goals that the cycling competition intends to promote are Goal 1, No Poverty, Goals 3, Good health and wellbeing, Goal 4, Quality Education, Goal 5, Gender Equality, Goal 7, Affordable and clean energy, Goal 9, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Goal 11, Sustainable cities and communities, Goal 13, Climate action, Goal 16, Peace, justice and strong institution out of the 17 SDGs.

Akanji further said that non-cycling participants who shall be present at the event shall benefit from a platform created to enable all Nigerians to be a part of the process, that a climate change card has been created to encourage everyone to take up an environmentally friendly way of life.

These guys won't cease to amaze me with their stupidity.

Useless government ran by a useless tyrant.

The Federal Road Maintenance Agency should as a matter of urgency start repairing all roads that leads to Daura.

Those roads will be busy next year to transport the tyrant and his cows back to where they belong

This is a good development if it can encourage the use bicycle. This is important for the attainment of a more sustainable transport system since it will reduce emission from transport related activities.

End time competition.

Election year another year FG to deceiving gullible people. After the election, all this and that will end.

The same Buhari's led FG that refuses his son from riding cycle, he's now the one want other people's children to do what he's stopping his children from doing. Who's Buhari fooling
