Is it only in Mali?
What about in Guinea and Senegal where the fulanis even claim to originate?
The wolof and other tribes there do not allow them to smell power. They are heavily dominated there, but in Nigeria, the fullanis use religion (islam) to deceive and brainwash the Hausas and Yoruba muslims to gain their support. Only in Gambia do fulanis produce presidents aside Nigeria.. Infact they hardly do even in Niger republic. The Zarma people dominate them heavily over there.

Very much true especially the bold. And honestly, i think the Nigeria fulani have this grandiose mindset because those two tribe you mentioned have mystified them as some supreme being. Afterall, whenever fulani does whatever nonsense they do, those two are already to insult, attack and dare anyone that speaks against them or are either begging everyone to walk on egg shell to appease the fulani. Thus, it comes as no shock the Nigeria fulani have the grandiose thought about themselves.
The ones in Guinea, Senegal, shit even the ones from Gambia sef, at least the ones I've met and interacted with, are without a doubt more respectful, nicer and tolerable. I personally believe it's due to not having groups that put them up in a high pedestal like the ones in Nigeria has.

Is that the name he was born with, or the name/title he acquired after he founded Onitsha??
So a Bini man came down to Onitsha and mysteriously changed his name to Eze Chima?

Are you really interested in the answer, or is this just a trick question? If you feel he did not come from Benin, then provide your own info., and support it with the relevant facts.

Gbam!

Fulanis in Cameroon were also living fly in the 60's & 70's when they dominated the country politically, taking advantage of the Kirdi minorities of the north and central.
But as soon as the Southerners united, it was game over for them. Fulanis in Cameroon have been cut to pieces. Infact they are now some of the most humble Africans you can find. cheesy They have grasped western education now, just in a bid to catch up with the south. I pray the South never makes the mistake to allow them back into power.

The earlier we all Southerners and middlebelters choose to unite, the better for us, otherwise fulanis will keep on taking us for a ride in this country.

Physicist:

You are very correct. Fulanis only make noise in Nigeria. In other countries such as Mali, Guinea Bissau, Guinea where Fulani is a major tribe, Fulanis have little political power. In Guinea (where Futa Djallon Highlands is located), Fulanis are the majority tribe. However, Fulanis are usually careful during election there, because they can be physically beaten during elections. Fulanis have little political power in Guinea and all other countries. As you rightly mentioned, the Northern Muslims and Southwest Muslims are the people allowing Fulanis to hold on to political power in Nigeria. The Fulanis are able to do this by deceiving the Yoruba Muslims and some other Northern Muslims. If you observe very well, it seems Fulanis give respect to the Kanuris or they are afraid of the Kanuris in Nigeria. If not why can’t Fulanis herdsmen go to Sambissa forest to have grazing reserves. Fulanis bully other tribes only in Nigeria.

As for the Kanuris, yes, fulanis might not be able or want to confront them. But really, it makes no difference any more. Kanuris are already willing tools today in the hands of the Fulanis.

The fulanis have already used the Hausas to silence every other ethnic group in the north and completely dominate the region. Since 1999, when last did a Kanuri occupy any top position in Nigeria? The middlebelt is even considered ahead of them in positions like Senate, deputy senate presidents and speakers.

Kanuris have almost completely lost their ethnic pride nationally all in the name of one arewa. They have no national agenda of their own, no national pan ethnic forums or socio cultural organizations, nothing! As large as they are! In Yobe, Bauchi & Jigawa, most of the indigenous Kanuris are now switching to Hausa as their mother tongue. Infact, just forget it. And these were supposed to be an ethnic group with a large pre colonial kingdom who defeated the fulanis.

The only time Kanuris had a strong influence was during the old North-eastern state, where they dominated the entire north-east and the capital of that gigantic state was in Maiduguri (the Kanuri heartland).

As soon as the old north eastern state was divided, the fulanis hijacked old Bauchi & Gongola states. Thereby breaking Kanuri influence.

See bros, stop spreading lies here you hear?

Igbos and Fulanis never came in contact with each other before the coming of the white man, and this was because the Fulanis themselves could not be able to defeat the Tivs, Wukari kingdom(Jukuns), Igalas, Idomas and Plateau people.
They could hardly penetrate most parts of the eastern middlebelt areas and this is why you have christian majority populations in Taraba, Benue & Plateau. Save for Igalas and parts of Nasarawa who later accepted Islam through trade (that is why Igalas and Nasarawa muslims are not ruled by fulani emirs and they share no extremist islamic views). They have their ancestral traditional rulers.

So stop repeating the false unfounded rubbish about fulanis encountering Igbos in battle. Or do you think all of us here are ignorant of history? For Gods sake, how could fulanis have reached Igbos without passing through Igala or Benue? Bia nwokem, kpachanya gi

Your post deserves nothing less than 1,000 likes, for its' contents. Thanks for educating him.... you did well! cheesy

Illogical? "Self-destruct" in what sense, biko? shocked You asked a question, and I provided an answer, by attaching an excerpt that contained the info, you requested. Yet, you were still not satisfied. You asked a 2nd question, and further clarification was sought from your end, before more info could be provided. Instead of providing an answer, you launched into a tirade. From your response, it just goes to show that you came online to rant, and not to learn. Try not to kill yahself!

Most things I learnt from living in Yoruba land are that Yoruba can be pretentious, are colorful story tellers and would avoid anybody who is in the know during intellectual exercise. It is a plain fact that Yoruba lands were under the administrative influence of Sokoto Caliphate via emirates. Again no Igbo land has ever been subjected to the administrative authority of Sokoto Caliphate. It is a fact.

Lies
After the civil war the balkanised igbo land ruled port Harcourt and neighbouring igbo town
Including all igbo towns in delta and edo
Renamed alot of cities that's why igbos there will say they are not igbos cry

Thanks bro but

The Oshogbo battle actually took place in 1840 between the Fulani caliphate armies led by Emir Shitta and the Ibadan (Yoruba) army led by Bashorun Oluyole /Balogun Ibikunle.
It took place in the area between Ota-efun (then a village under Oshogbo) and Inisha town (now in Odo-Otin LGA,Osun State.

By this time, the Ibadan army had acquired European weapons from Ijebu arms dealers in Ikorodu who controlled access to the sea while the Fulani caliphate armies still depended on bows & arrows, swords and traditional African Dane guns.
The Ibadan army soundly defeated the Fulani Jihadist and pursued them to Offa.

Oluyole actually planed to chase the Fulani Jihadists away from Ilorin but lack of consensus among his lieutenants and cooperation from the Ilorin indigenes (who wrongly interpreted the jihardist military campaigns as wars between the Muslims of Ilorin against their Pagan neighbours) stalled the implementation of this plan through military invasion of Ilorin.

Y0ruba:
.

This man must have forgotten the Osogbo war of 1870 & Jalumi war of 1878 in which the Fulani miscreants who thought of themselves as an army were comprehensively defeated and brutally massacred by Ibadan army [just one part of the whole Yoruba army] which stopped their foolish advent into Yoruba lands and put them in the background of the 19th century Yoruba warfare and diplomacy.

This people must have forgotten how Ibadan army went as far as Offa to break the Fulani grip on the town and would have marched on to Ilorin if the ‘Yoruba’ out there who had already found comfort in playing the role of the conquered and 3rd fiddle to the Fulani and Hausa requested for the help.

They will think Ibadan, Abeokuta, Ekiti armies of earlier centuries have changed until they trigger their descendants and willing Yoruba spread across the region to take up arms against them.

If they rely on importing their uncivilizaed band from across West Africa, Yoruba will readily open the border to Yoruba in Republic of Benin, Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Brazil, Cuba and the Caribbeans.

1)The present Taraba State was never part of the Sokoto caliphate.

2) The Yoruba (Oyo) empire had contiguous borders with the areas that later became the Sokoto caliphate but Igboland doesn't. There are several tribes/kingdoms between the borders of the caliphate and Igboland.

3) Hausa, Fulani, Nupe and Bariba have had close interactions with the Yoruba (Oyo) empire for centuries before the creation of the Nigerian State...indeed, many Yoruba people (Including royal dysnasties) have Fulani, Hausa and Nupe blood and some Northerners ,especially in Kwara, Niger, Kebbi and Sokoto States have Yoruba origin.

DerideGull:

I have know you as a fake news peddler. Sokoko Caliphate stretched to eastward to Adamawa and Taraba. They committed a suicidal blunder when tried to head southeast-ward and beat a hasty retreat.

They’ve forgotten they the Fulani Hausa & Kanike [Kanuri] used to be slaves that tender to our lice stock and farm across Yoruba land till Afonja gave them a haven in Ilorin.

They have a short menory ni & eran iya niwon. Yoruba have made examples out of them on numerous time from 19th century to the repraisal attack in Oke Ogun that brought their Oga Buhari down West but was sent back with boldfaced facts, pocket occurrences around Yoruba land & the recent Ife situation.

They only need to force the hand of the Yoruba for eruku to be let loose from Lagos to Kwara South. The interesting part is, Yoruba will fight then with guns & pens.

They are in for a rude shock.

The truth is that there is a FUTURISTIC war battle that is about to happen between the Children of IDRIS ALOOMA of Kanem Bornu empire as represented by Boko Haram and the Children of USMAN DAN FODIO represented by Fulani Herdsmen. The current crisis of Fulani Herdsmen is just to draw a line of defence before the main battle for the partitioning of the rich sahel region of the middle belt. So much is hidden from us, but every actions and moves has an historical background.

The unfolding scenario will be interesting.
But i believe the Kanuris are native to Nigeria the fulanis are invaders.
