With 20 states in one northern region controlled by Hausa/Fulani, whereas there are only 17 states in the divided two southern regions, it's no longer possible for any southerner to win a northerner in Nigeria's presidential election, so long as Hausa/Fulani insists that the president must come from the north.

Southern politicians and soldiers were sleeping when Fulani used military dictators loyal to the north and proliferated 20 new political units (19 states + Abuja) in one northern region, but allowed only 17 states in the two southern regions. But land mass is never used as criterion when new states or lgas are being created in a country formed by diverse regions.

A presidential candidate needs to win 25% of votes in 2/3 of the 36 states, that's in 24 states, before the candidate can be declared winner.

It's easy for any northern presidential candidate sponsored by Fulani to win 25% of votes in 24 states, but next to impossible these days for a presidential candidate from anywhere in the south to win 25% of votes in 24 states, so long as Fulani says that the president must come from the north.
