Oyo State Government has donated food, sewing machines and building materials as relief to the victims of fire disaster which occurred in Mokola Market late last year.
The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Emergency Management Agency, OYSEMA, Mr. Akin Makinde, who led the government delegation therein, said the relief materials were provided to assist the victims to resettle and resume their normal businesses.
The items donated include bundles of roofing sheets, pieces of ceiling boards, sewing machines, bags of cement, mattresses, bags of beans, cartons of beverages, noodles and other materials needed by the victims.
In an address, Caretaker Chairman, Aare Latosa Local Council Development Area, Bashorun Adekunle Oladeji popularly known as “Omo BAO, whose the market falls under his Council, described the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Abiola Ajimobi as a promise keeper, adding that welfare of Oyo State residents has always been the priority of the Governor which necessitated the distribution of the relief materials.
Bashorun Oladeji urged leadership of the market association to ensure judicious use of the distributed materials to all who were affected by the unfortunate incident.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, The Babaloja of Mokola Market, Alhaji Muritala Aleelo and Iyaloja of the Market, Mrs Feyisara Bayo-Azeez commended the State Governor and the Caretaker Chairman, Aare Latosa LCDA for standing by them by bringing succour to the victims.
