As part of its commitment towards sportsdevelopment in Nigeria and making the Nigerianprofessional Football League more glamorous,  Dana Air today unveiled another sponsorship deal worth millions with the current NPFL league leaders Akwa United FC of Akwa Ibom state. ‎
Under this deal, Dana Air will get branding opportunities for the duration of the season and fly the team to all its away matches in the 2018 NPFL season.  Also as part of the deal, the club’s player of the month initiative will be sponsored by Dana Air  with a very good largess from the airline.  ‎
Speaking at the press conference to announce the deal, the Accountable Manager of Dana Air said, ‘let me first congratulate Akwa United for winning the league cup last year and for starting this season on a very impressive note.’’
 ‎‘Just like I said when we also unveiled our sponsorship for Heartland fc of Owerri, it’s not all about the branding opportunities or commercials, but our commitment to developing football in Nigeria and supporting the Nigerian league. It about making our league glamorous and encouraging the players to be the best. If we bring the passion with which we follow the teams in the EPL our league will be better for it. We have taken the lead, and we hope other corporate bodies will look in that direction.’’‎
Also speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of Akwa United, Elder Paul Bassey said ‘this is surely a turning point in the development of football in Nigeria. This partnership will definitely ease our travels and we commend Dana Air, Nigeria’s foremost airline for this.’’‎
Air travel is the safest in the world and with this, Dana Air has taken a lot of burden off the club.  The other day, we heard of a team that was involved in a road mishap, thank God the players came out unhurt. Like iv always said, if the Nigerian league can do something about their horrible pitch and somewhat make it greener, find a way to average 1.5 goals per match(not this 0-0,1-0) plus exciting football,even if na to threaten some brands to sponsor some teams and give it some colour.... Also good TV coverage (commentary, replays, cameras etc).. Erm, what else
Oh and they should arrange with some celebrities to come out on Sunday or a special Sunday to support a team.. Imagine "davido on instagram with a Rangers jersey and calling on fans to turn up in the evening vs Plateau United supported by wizkid etc... Match already started on social media already.. Imagine the awareness, and I'm sure people would definitely come and chill in the stadium even if na #500....
Kudos to Dana airline... Expecting other brands to adopt other teams.....

This will also enhance the image of our clubs and invariably our league.

In my opinion, Printing club's names on Jersey is too wack! in this modern time, &its not longer a practice in club football worldwide.
Multi-national corporate organisation operating in this Country should rise to the occasion &this is another way of advertising their company to the public in terms of awareness of their services.

We should start now, we shouldn't be living in the stone age era, clubs main colours, club's logo &if our leagues matches are televise you'll simply identify &get to know the club's playing.
I don't follow Nigerian league that much, but I can identify some club's colour which if I see I can identify.
Kano Pillars is Green&yellow, Enyimba is blue/white, Ifeanyi Ubah has same colours as West Ham utd, Rivers utd blue/white, Niger Tornadoes, light blue/white, heartland/Rangers Red/white, Akwa utd uses the State adopted Colour Orange&White. I can go on &on.
E.g Some Bet companies like Bet9ja, NairaBet, MerryBet can easily sponsor some club shirt if they have a good agreement on ground with Clubs.


See my broda, if I watch South African League I can easily know the Clubs playing be it sundown, Orlando pirate, Bloofemtein Celtics or Ajax Cape Town.

wasted money. How can you expect a government owned club to be financial prudent. I would have been happy with this development if only Dana air attach a condition such as the club been sold to the fans or government divesting about 70/ stake in the club.
