The only thing a senator owes his constituency is robust and purposeful representation and good legislation , it is the Federal Govt and State Govts that owe the people most of the other results of good governance we clamour for .

Well, in a country without social safety net, people will grab whatever is thrown at them. In normal places senators have no business doing constituency projects. They do legislative work and rep their people at federal level to enact laws that favour the people. FG, SG & LGs do projects.

But legislators want to siphon as much as they can.

Even though its an illegality, its still being given to senators, it is madness on the path of any Senator to buy and share fry pans and portable sized gas cylinders and extreme myopia and greater madness on the people who are even going to collect these ridiculous items.
What is wrong with renovation of 2 schools per year( 1 primary and 1 secondary each), stocking up the library plus a good computer lab.
That in my opinion is Constituency development...not this madness that some of our so called youth ( foolish ones) are busy applauding.....

You are almost right but of the senators renovate 2 schools per year then what will the Local Govt dept of work and State ministry of Education do with funds already earmarked for this

Are there untidy markets, Trunk C roads to fix, refuse dumps to clean.....and get me right, cos the senator is renovating a school(which is just one of the numerous things he could do) does not exempt the local government from doing same.

If the senator can collect money he has no business collecting, he can as well do the work he has no business doing

With 180 million, he can start a scholarship scheme in his constituency for aspiring youths in the constituency.....
He can start a revolving mini-cooperative scheme for SME in his community.....
He can even give out like 100 thousand naira start-up grants to low income earners, or upcoming artsans in his community.....
That money can refurbish dilapidated govt primary n secondary schools in his community...
That money can build a shopping complex in ariara market. Thereafter, he can donate the building to the market traders union as his own contribution to the growth of the market.....
He can build n donate a hostel accommodation in either ABSU or uni agric umudike or even both..... .
He can build a lecture theatre in any higher institution in abia n name it after himself....
With 180 million, he can bequeath ABSUTH a standard n beffitting ICU/renal dialysis unit or surgical theartre.....
He can even build a youth sport centre n hand it over to the LG to manage....
Now if he does any of the above, who will abuse him....
This man will earn close to 600 million as constituency allowance in his tenure, now tell me if that amount can't get at least 2 of the above project done......

The problem is our leaders are too much into themselves.....
They fail to see beyond today n their immediate families.....
They lack the principle of self preservation. Therefore, they don't see the need for legacy.....

Selfish n clueless southern politicians like this senator is the reason buhari is taking us for a ride in Abuja.....
