It is quite possible that some mumu pulled the door handle (typically on top of the emergency exit door), and kept quiet. There is no way for the door to fall toward the outside. It first has to be removed, pulled inside by the passenger or crew member, then pushed out. During the flight, even if the handle is pulled down, the door would remain in place until the plane lands and the pressure equalizes. |

stagger: Oga there are some things instruments cannot help you with. For example birds have caused a good number of accidents by flying into the engines of planes and other such. A good degree of visibility is still required. The pilot is also manually engaged during take off and landing and requires visibility to do this effectively. That is why landing strips are very intricately lit up at night. 2 Likes |

stagger:The passenger that posted it is not just any passenger or "ignorant" . That's the founder/owner of flying doctors Nigeria ( Dr Brown Orekunrin) ; an outfit that deals with air ambulance and have planes at their disposal. so she's not "ignorant" when it comes to planes, she probably knows more about them than you or I do 5 Likes |

Not that ahm saying people should not be aware of the dangers and so on but incidents that happened shouldnt be rung like bells all over the place..Be optimistic and everything will be as the Lord planned.. You wont like it if ya business is being downgraded in such manner..think positively.. |

stagger: But the person is very correct at least in the Nigerian context. You almost certainly cannot rely on instruments at night despite the fact that the pilot is instrument and type rated for the aircraft they're flying. Visibility is very important in flying regardless of instruments, for instance if you cannot see the runway lights upon final, if you were a pilot, would you continue your approach? |

One picture? No video? A complaint from just one passenger? With the way we (Nigerians) use social media of recent, sounds like a fake news/report to me from the onset. My own opinion |

stagger: But it is better to fly during the day, instruments or not. Especially in a country like Nigeria where you might be following the glide path in, and then power cut at the airport: suddenly NO ILS, NO runway lights, NO beacons, NO radio contact with the tower, no nothing. At least if this happens during the day, you can still see the runway. City and highway lights can also serve as route guide at night... not so in Nigeria where the roads are pitch black and entire cities can be plunged into darkness at any time. And what about emergency services in case something happens to the flight? Is it in Nigeria you expect anything to function at night? 2 Likes 1 Share |

stagger: The statement is actually not flawed. While technical advancement have made flying at night almost the same with flying during the daytime. Night time still has some peculiar incidents and higher rates of turbulences particular during the winter, or when it's raining. Bottom line is there's not much statistical evidence to say which time is safer. But an individual can make such submission regardless. Not to mention emergencies are better handle at daytime. It's just like saying going to the ATM is better during the day than at night. There's no data to prove this but one can conclude based on personal experience |

I wouldnt say the observation was right, but DANA to me seems to take the maintenance of their aircraft very seriously, I flew with them for the first time to Portharcourt on monday and I must say it was was of my best experience in travelling through air, compared to other experiences |

This is what you get from buying an aircraft that has being used for 18 years and has outlived it's usefulness. Even the current war ship of Nigeria has being used for 44 years by the USA. |
