Shocks have continued to trail the alleged horrendous activities of suspected human parts dealers who disguise as foreign travel agents in many parts of Delta State.
Although, the police and other security agencies are battle ready to flush them out, the shocking news of the death and slavery of Nigerian migrants seeking greener pastures in foreign countries, portends bad omen for the situation.
Expectedly, many Nigerians in the last few years had fallen victim of untold stories, particularly the “horrifying trade of human parts black market business, while many Nigerians have either been killed or thrown into oceans/lagoons and their bodies not found.
Investigation revealed that the Delta Police Command had in the past few months arrested no fewer than 13 suspected human parts dealers at different locations in the state after acting on intelligence gathering.
It was reliably gathered that the suspects often disguise as foreign travel agents to allegedly hoodwink unsuspecting “desperados” into their nets where in the end, they are sacrificed for sale, and their parts converted into money.
The state Police Commissioner, Muhammadu Mustafa, who spoke to journalists last week in Asaba, confirmed that the 13 suspects arrested had made useful statements to the police, adding that one of them (name withheld) was arrested with five human heads at a particularly areas while investigation was ongoing.
He said that others were arrested along Asaba/Benin Expressway with hands of a human being, adding that when interrogated, the suspects allegedly confessed that money-making native doctors requested them to bring the human parts.
According to him, “we have also arrested the native doctors who claimed to be from the South-West, using human parts for money rituals, we are ready to flush out all forms of criminality in the state”.
Meanwhile, the Police Command last week nabbed a man (name withheld) with suspected intestines of a human being cleverly hidden in a jerry can between Obiaruku and Agbor axis. The suspect was said to have been arrested on a tip off by police detectives and currently standing trial after he was remanded in prisons custody in Ogwashi-Uku.
Further investigation revealed that the human parts dealers’ modus operandi is to collude with foreign agents who would woo unsuspecting young Nigerians, especially girls into traveling on “simple journey” abroad with mouth-watering promises, such as securing good jobs for them.
Speaking to journalists in Asaba, the Senior Special Assistant on Child Rights’ Advocacy to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Bar. Bridget Anyafulu, said the child rights’ law already passed in the state, would be followed to the letter, adding that parents who fall short of the law would face the consequences.
She said: “Most parents are to be blamed in this act of human parts trade, they encourage their children to go into unlawful activities in desperation for making money but we as a state government, are doing a lot to ensure the illicit and wicked activities have no place in the scheme of things.”
She called on parents to join hands with the state government to ensure such illegalities are completely eradicated.
Sources alleged that prices of human parts range between N104 million, N57 million, and N62 million, depending on the kidney, liver and eyes which are usually vital parts of the body.
